Crazy render times for Sony Vegas

I don't know if this is the right section or not, I didn't see one specifically for video editing, but basically I'm trying to render a 20 minute long video, and it says it will take 5 hours. It's been going for 23 minutes and its on 7% as of right now.

The source video is 1080p 59fps, .mp4 file

Render settings are for 1080p 59fps, as a .mp4 file

Anyone know anything about Sony Vegas rendering? Do I need to give more information on my render settings?

Why does it take f'n 5 hours to render a 20 minute clip which is not heavily edited at all other than having a commentary clip on it?

I figured it was because I had an additive blend layer over the entire thing which I only really used for 3 seconds for my intro at the start of the video, is there any way to use the add effect without using it on an entire layer?

AVC is a higher quality codec, so it takes longer to export. Use H.264, it gives you a smaller file size, and it's not going to take as long since it doesn't try to retain every last detail. YouTube wouldn't even process AVC quality as it automatically converts it to a lower codec during the upload anyway. If that doesn't help speed it up some, then I really don't know what it would be - unless your PC is just shitty at rendering.

Nah my PC is ripped as fuck. But I don't have any other option than AVC lol

Can't be that ripped if it's saying 5 hours for 20 minutes no matter what the resolution or codec.

Well as I said, I had an entire layer over the video which was constantly trying to apply an effect which was not there, its like rendering a heavily edited generated media for 20 minutes in the highest quality possible

One layer shouldn't result in 5 hours, no matter how long. I know Vegas has shitty export times, but that's pushing at a little.

On top quality for 20 minutes, it will. When I removed the layer it took about an hour, which is a lot more realistic

That's still woeful, brother, but then Vegas is woeful for exporting.

What would you expect for a 20 minute full hd 60 fps video clip with slight editing then? I mean it would take 40 min tops pretty much whatever specs your PC is, but I figured there was something wrong with the project for some reason, I made a new one and it rendered a lot quicker.

2 minutes rendering per minute of video is what you should expect - even with significant editing. 40 minutes is about right at 1080p for Vegas, but it's still comparatively slower than other software when it comes to exporting.

What? I have been using vegas for 5 years, and it works perfectly, and there is no other option than AVC so what could I do?

Posted

Sorry, you're just not a part of the glorious h.264 master race.

Yeah no I have no idea what that is, I am perfectly fine with running pretty much all games on the highest settings on my PC though.

Heh, come back to me when it doesn't take a full day to render a 20 min clip, boy.

Come back when your day is 1 hour long.

What?

You said it took 5 hours, I'm going to take that as taking 5 hours.

Yes thats the whole reason I made this topic, because it took 5 hours. That is an unusual render time.
