Do uncompressed pacs need to be recompressed?

I haven't used xbdecompress that often because for the last two games I've used PS3 pac's which are uncompressed by default, but if I use xbdecompress to uncompress Xbox pacs, do I need to recompress them to use them in-game? Do they still work uncompressed?
