Loved the little animation at the start with the hold going into the irish wrip from the ropes.

I also like that both their finishers have pin options! :)

No idea, but I really liked this video as it showcased some new moves and the material in their outfits show really well! Hype is real for this game.

I am worried about the lack of info for Universe Mode, hope it's not just going to be the exact same as 2k15 as it can get better with improvements and fixes for the known problems that still exist.

And yeah the awesome new moves! Noticed a new inverted slam, as well as a new Flatliner. And that DDT was beautiful! :D

Exactly, by this time last year we had a lot more info than what we have now.

17 days 14 minutes to be exact.

Forty-seven days, twenty-three hours, and thirty minutes for a price check from me. If 2015 was something to go by, then five months, three days, fourteen hours, and thirty minutes away. That's when they'll make the Season Pass available for free again and I'll maybe consider the clearance bin.

Maybe.

Lol.. JBL sounds terrible.

Regarding the video itself? I'm, well.. getting sick of gameplay videos now tbh. I've seen enough of it to convince me it's been upgraded a lot. I want to see CAA, CAW Mode, CAB in action.

have fun!

i just prefer to have it day 1. there aren't really that many games that interest me this year. not interested in fallout 4 and while i loved the battlefront beta and glad you can switch from 1st to 3rd person, it's not really something i'm into so yeah 2k16 is probably my go-to game for a while. atleast till resident evil zero makes the jump to current gen

I can agree on Fallout 4. It's a title I'm constantly debating whether it's a day one purchase for me or not, although I'll give it the benefit of the doubt simply because of a lack of a Fallout game in the last five years. I might have purchased 2K16 on release date, but I think that's mostly attributed to the lack of time I invested into 2K14 and 2K15 collectively as opposed to the titles which came before simply because I didn't have an incentive. I was basically doing the same thing I'd been doing ever since WWE SmackDown vs RAW 2006 and that was create a CAW, play as the CAW, and then go back to creating and seeing what others have created. It became more difficult to differentiate this year from the last.WWE 2K14 is the encapsulation of everything everyone wanted for years and THQ really went out with a bang. It will be years to follow something like that, but 2K is somewhat of an industry standard and a trend setter, and I expect them to deliver on content which makes 2K14 pale in comparison.

If we shift the gun for a moment and there was a new Fallout every year, I'd be less inclined to buy it on street date, similar to the pattern of yearly Far Cry games now. Games need time to cultivate provided there is a dedicated team, which is another issue entirely. I've taken the liberty to highlight the key faces we've been introduced to over the course of last year.

I'm just not receiving that type of impetus or vibe from the people involved which look at wrestling as a whole different dynamic and from a unique angle of vision.

Sports brand manager Bryce Yang is a stand up guy no doubt, but he doesn't come across as a guy who is well-versed or invested in the product as much as he should.

Creative Director Lynell Jinks is a cool dude you'd have a beer with and invite to a barbecue, but his view on wrestling wouldn't differ greatly from any other schmuck. Although, I believe he is passionate,  wrestling just isn't the field where he has fully expressed it or he hasn't proven otherwise. He also looks and acts like Timbaland which isn't much to go by especially when you compare him to Rob Jones who is knowledgeable in the facets of his product and the history of it which is visible in his interviews. The platform is there through Twitter and questionnaires via websites, but isn't availed. Marking out during gameplay doesn't denote passion. In fact, it only demonstrates you are just being introduced to the genre.

Last but not least, we have executive producer Mark Little who says words just to put it on video and insults the audience's intelligence. There isn't much substance to the message he is displaying. "Focusing on fundamentals like audio," is an understatement if I've ever heard of one. "We get into the commentary and we spend a lot of time on the road with the talent recording them in side by side sessions so we get a very authentic commentary system like they're sitting there actually ringside night by night letting the commentary fly." Yet, it's the exact, same shit we've been hearing for the past five years. The truth was revealed later by Cole himself who said the lines are recorded individually and are sent to 2K to edit.

Game designer Ramelle Ballesca on the other hand, shows potential and I would retain him, but he didn't really offer much innovation last year as we were tied down to a formulaic game mode which existed in WWE SmackDown vs RAW 2010 with repeated match ups every week in the card with no purpose to them. Also, the abrupt ending from last year wouldn't do him any favors as it was simulated and offered little to no variety. But, he has success behind him as far as the potential for MyCareer is concerned so I'm not going to doubt his abilities because there are plenty of idiosyncrasies to abide by in NBA 2K's mode.

And, we arrive at Bryan Williams. We go back with Bryan. We love Bryan. We hate Bryan. But, we can never forget Bryan. Fans have belittled Bryan for years for removing moves which were a staple in the franchise in 2009/2010's iteration of the game and he's received major criticism for that decision. While it may have been a shortsighted and costly mistake, Bryan Williams is the closest to which our demographic identifies with, and we are stuck with what we got. But, while people will disagree entirely because of their personal agendas with Williams, it is unfair to judge him on that mistake alone even if we still feel the vibrations today. Bryan Williams can identify with the genre and he offers a unique approach to the genre. I hate to use the inevitable Cena analogy, but Williams is an essential part of the product on a developmental standpoint no matter how much brienj may disagree with that statement.

Annual releases, though lucrative. inhibit the creative freedoms that might have been afforded if time wasn't a factor, and thus, we get games which look and feel similar to the year before, therefore slapping a USD $60 retail price point (the same price point which is allocated to Witcher 3 or MGSV) to them is unjustifiable, especially the beta launch which was WWE 2K15. A distinguishable launch date price point for that game should have been USD $35 at most.

I can't blindly attach myself towards this idea of brand loyalty either because 2K aren't fulfilling to the standards they've set for themselves and although it might be unfair to judge them solely based on last year, they are a subsidiary of a corporation which generates $2.5 billion in revenue. I've just accepted everything they touch isn't gold. Lest we not forget Don King Prize Fighter. Three to four years should be a good measuring stick though. If there isn't a dramatic improvement by 2017, then, maybe EA (I know people are going to hate me for saying this,) would have been best to pick up this license.

I know it's too early to predict now and I'll make a better judgment call after this awkward transitioning is over. It remains to be seen whether 2K is identified as "the company that makes wrestling games" but it essentially is creating a rift because the full attention will always be allocated towards their primary franchise. You can't tell me they couldn't acquire the services of a movie director to pitch lines for WWE 2K16's MyCareer Mode for marketing purposes similar to NBA 2K using Spike Lee? It's because these games will never appeal to the hardcore wrestling fan, hence why people like Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins are overshadowed by Rock and Steve Austin as cover stars for their respective years.

I'll bide my time though and definitely see what the lot here say about 2K16, yourself included, and ultimately base my decision on that.

Like the new animation for the Final Cut

I gotta say I loved the little details of the gameplay this year.  The spot where the headlock was pushed off into an Irish whip was awesome.  So were the long 2 counts complete with winded animations and complaining to the ref in disbelief.  When you look at the psychology in these videos it's amazing how close to real life the gameplay looks.  Another very cool upgrade is the grounded position moves.  I noticed too you can reverse moves at different points when either you or your opponent are getting up.  Simple nuances like those make the gameplay look alot more realistic and like an actual match.  The only real downside in the video was repetitive commentary.  JBL said the line about Goldust debuting in '95 and the fountain of youth two or three times in less than 5 minutes.  Hopefully an area that will be different in the final version.  Otherwise though I thought this was a great video.  Both graphics and gameplay are looking phenomenal this year.

Great video it's the little things that matter to me. Like the headlock into a Irish whip. Now I didn't get 2K15 So my question is were there any improvements to universe mode last year? Lack of info for this year has me thinking.

I remember they introduced rival system, where you can make your own rivalries instead of it being random, but it could do with more work.

that was introduced in 2k14.

2k15's addition was the story collection. which didn't really help that much

Don't know why I thought 2k15 started the rival system when I can now remember rivalries that I had on the game...

Stupid me xD

nah it's all good. and if you really wanna take it back a step further, technically WWE13 had it too but they just weren't selectable.  That was the first game where cutscenes started only happening in the last 2/3 matches on the card. before that the game actually generated scenes based on the allies and rivals you set up in the edit superstar menu
