cloudropis Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 http://forums.2k.com/showthread.php?1875696-WIP-Custom-Entrance-Sound-Replacer-Injector-ToolAvira sees it as malicious, HEUR/APC (Cloud) to be precise. I know it's probably nothing but I wanna hear if any of you met the same problem. Quote
Anonymous22 Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 No It Is Not I Use it all the time it works its not a virus or my virus protector will delete it Quote
cloudropis Posted August 22, 2015 Author Posted August 22, 2015 I scanned it many times and it's still regarded as virus... Does anyone know the link of some guides on replacing theme songs without it? Quote
beastedot9 Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 (edited) If you're that adamant it is a virus then here is an alternative(longer) method: http://forums.2k.com/showthread.php?1825386-Replacing-Entrance-usic&p=9959091#post9959091 But I can assure you it's not. Probably a false positive. Edited August 22, 2015 by beastedot9 Quote
cloudropis Posted August 22, 2015 Author Posted August 22, 2015 I know the tool itself is surely a false positive, but I'm wondering if maybe the download link got somehow hijacked with the download of a different program or something. Do any of you remember how big the installer was? Mine is 14 mb. The hex method doesn't seem that brutal... I'll consider using it if stuff really goes south. Quote
Cerb Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 I scanned it many times and it's still regarded as virus... Does anyone know the link of some guides on replacing theme songs without it?And it will forever tell you it's a virus, but what if i told you its not always correct? *boom* mind blowing huh? It's not a virus just use it. cloudropis Posted August 22, 2015 Author Posted August 22, 2015 And as I already said, I know the tool itself is a false positive, I'm wondering if the link is redirecting to the correct download. I've seen it happen. Quote
beastedot9 Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/139b9f6b890813fd65bc5e3769ec12f84e614ac00367cf894d04fc3b3c767d60/analysis/1440277500/That is a scan for the executable. It is highly likely that there is no redirecting going on here. It's good to be cautious as not many are these days but this tool seems fine to use. Quote
cloudropis Posted August 22, 2015 Author Posted August 22, 2015 I ran that too, but the thing that kinda scares me is how it only found the "malware" after I ran the executable. I scanned the exe itself with no problem.Oh well I already contacted the mod creator and I can always try it on a backup PC first. I just now remembered a "system resources exceeded" error message popped out too, but maybe it's because Avira blocked its execution. Either way I'm gonna try again in a few days Quote
Cerb Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 So many people use this tool, why wouldn't you? No one has gotten virus from it. Quote
cloudropis Posted August 23, 2015 Author Posted August 23, 2015 I don't think I have other ways to spell "it's not the tool itself the problem, but the link redirecting to the correct download" Quote
Michael Wayne Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 What they're trying to get you to understand is, tons of people have downloaded from that link without any problems. So why would it magically be hijacked at the very time you chose to download it? Quote
