Character installs

So, I'm an idiot. I didn't make a backup of my wwe2k15 before. I started modifying the roster. As a result, the roster now has the word manager in parenthesis after some of the superstars names. I dont get it. Not a big deal, I'll just edit the string file later, but now...okay. Instead of redownloading 2k15 in its entirety, I just deleted the files I changed and had steam validate the game and download the missing files. But I must have missed some. I still have renders of some wrestlers (Goldberg, balor, stardust, etc. ) again, I'll deal with it later.

So I copied the appropriate ch.pac files into place, and 5 out of the 6 superstars worked fine. Balor, Steiner, Kevin Owen, stardust, and jeff hardy worked no problem, but Goldberg didn't. (it did before) is there some type of size limit? Or cache I need to reset? If anyone s had this problem, please let me know.

Also of note, I'm overwriting some of the main roster, not adding new.

Only thing I can think of is that when you verified the cache it put the arc file back. So check to see if plist32.arc is in your game folder and move it from the folder.

If you were smart, you'd 'aquire' a copy elsewhere and leave your legit copy mod free. anything you download from your steam copy can easily be transferred to your modded copy. Make a clone of your modded copy and use it as a resource should you fuck up your game again.

Personally, I have no problem with somebody 'acquiring' a game for modding when they've just shelled out for the legit copy on steam. Makes no odds to me..

well, the real reason i want these superstars in there is for my wwe universe. I really don't like when I'm wrestling as Kevin Owens (in retro daniel bryan's place) when they talk about daniel bryan. Perhaps I'll go back to using the AJ lee hack and add the modded superstars in that way. Thanks for your suggestion beastedot9. The plist32.arc file was re-downloaded, so i removed it, but that didn't work.

And for Titan83, I try my best to stay away from filesharing altogether for moral reasons. Regardless of whether or not you have a problem with it, some ISP's are cracking down on it. Some years ago, I was doing as you said and 'acquiring' something via filesharing, and I got an email from my Internet provider warning me of copyright infringement. That was strike 1, strike 2 they cut my internet service. No disrespect to you.

I'm not entirely sure, but i think Steam sync was the problem. i disabled steam sync, and now it's accepting new character installs again. perhaps the string file was being synced every time I launched the game?
