Would appreciate some help with string.pac

I'm loving the community DLC.  But I'm having some problems.  Although the characters appear in-game, they are not listed as Kurt Angle, Goldberg, etc, but instead as Dean Ambrose (manager), Bray Wyatt (manager), etc.  This is because of string.pac, everyone says.  Well, I've installed the string.pac that appears in the thread.  But still, nothing.  I've followed tutorials to change the string, but when I get to the values that I'm supposed to change, (6A4D for Kurt Angle, 6A4F for Jeff Hardy) I find that they're already set to Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, etc.  I've followed several different tutorials, but I just can't figure it out.  Am I doing something wrong, or missing a step?  Sorry if it's a noob or frequently asked question, I don't have much experience modding WWE games. Thanks

in which lanague are you playing the game?

Dean Ambrose (manager), Bray Wyatt (manager), etc.

You have to rename these to Goldberg,Scott Steiner...etc in the String.pac

4000 PACH for english...

English.

Thanks.  I uncompressed 4000, but I didn't get a 0000.zlib, I only got 000A, 000B, etc.  I probably screwed it up.  I'll try again and report back.

Did you install Universal Attire Unlock?

No.  Should I?  I did activate an NPC unlocker for the AJ Lee glitch and, along with NPCs like moveset-man and such, did get some attires for, say, Shawn Michaels and a few others.

Or you can use PAC Tool by Keshire (Available for free)... More Easier too.... Just extract 0 File (No need to Uncompress)... and open it with X-Packer (Press Ctrl+0 [zero]) or Hex Editor (Press Ctrl + O)to edit it...

BTW You have to use X-Packer to inject them....

You guys are all awesome, thanks for giving me some help.  I made a video showing my process, and the results I got.  Hopefully this can pinpoint exactly what I'm doing wrong, and hopefully someone can chime in with the correct process.

That's Correct...

You have to inject the 0000 file in 4000 Pach and 4000 Pach in string.pac (Not Sure about the Direct Injection Method).... Copy and paste the String.pac in the PAC Folder [Located in WWE2K15/pac]

I didn't know about injecting 0000 into 4000, then 4000 into string, so I did that, and pasted the new string.pac into my pac folder, opened the game, got excited.... and saw "Bray Wyatt (manager)".   How is this even happening?  I can't find any reference to "Bray Wyatt (manager)" or "Roman Reigns (manager)" anywhere, and yet it's right there in the game.

I hadn't done that, and dude I was so ready to come back here and tell you how much of a genius you are, but it still doesn't work.  I've gotta be missing something here man, it's bugging me, it doesn't make sense.

Okay, so I thought I'd try another route and grab a new string.pac, then use a hex editor to change the values.  So I did, and again, no change.  So then I got to wondering, what would happen if I just moved the string.pac file out of my WWE2k15 folder?  Would the game not know what the wrestlers were called?  Would it crash?  Is the info stored somewhere else?  So, I tried it, and the game works just fine, it's like it completely ignores the string.pac file, like it's a completely useless and unnecessary file.   I have no idea what's going on.  Is it possible the string data is located within a save file or something?

Do you have another string.pac in your pac folder? This sounds like there's a backup in the folder that it's reading from.

No, just the one.  I've even permanently deleted all backups (some were in recycle bin).

Go to your main game folder and search for  'string' in the explorer. I know you say you deleted backups but I just tried removing the string.pac and it froze after the splash screen. There has to be a file there that it's reading from.

Dude, you're awesome.  There was one in DLC60 that I totally looked over.  Problem solved.  Thanks!
