Aero Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 5c is a stripped down 5. Slow as fuck, seems good when you first get it but shortly after its slow as cock Quote
fufu ÷ Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 Slow at everything or just slow at games and useless shit? Quote
Sunny Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 It's an improvement from what you had, but, I wouldn't recommend the C personally because of its speed and constant crashes. And, that's slow at everything (from switching pages in your browser, to opening a new page, switching through running apps, to crashes when launching an app). If you were planning on going with a contract anyways, just get the 5S. There's very little difference between the 5S and 6 than if you compare the 5C to the 6. Even when it's all said and done, I personally think the size of the 6 is very off-putting. Quote
fufu ÷ Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 So what's the difference between a 5C and a 5S? Quote
Sunny Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Externally, the 5C is heavier and thicker. It also lacks the Touchsensor ID. The 5S has a significantly better camera and includes more camera options such as burst for seamless snaps by holding the flash button as well as slo-mo recording for video. Although they tout similar internals, it would also reflect on the price but that isn't the case. The 5C is prone to more crashes when there are more apps open which makes multitasking almost impossible. The 5S has the faster processor of the two and provides better performance. It also feels lighter on the hand. The reason why I'm being critical of the 5C is because I've had the 5, 5C, and 5S at one time or another. The 5C just seems to be a watered down version of the iPhone 5 but with vibrant colors for the expressionist in your family. Ultimately, this all boils down on what you're willing to spend. You could always get the 8GB 5C but you'll essentially be working with a JellyBean-like software that has its annoyances. But, a few extra bucks wouldn't hurt for longevity and a far better performance with the 5S. Quote
fufu ÷ Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 So would you say its worth paying £5 more a month for 24 months just to go from a 5C to a 5S? Would a 5C even last 24 months? It seems to be getting shat on quite heavily here. Quote
Sunny Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Definitely. It would last the 24 months, only provided that you don't drop it. Cases provide security but you'd still have your heart in your mouth in the event that you do because the screen is more vulnerable to cracks as the plastic around it pushes the screen outward. In addition, you'd be more frustrated by load times, and general slowness of how things are launched because it runs with the A6 processor. If you don't mind the extra £5, the 5S is the far better option. From sleek design, to performance, to security. Quote
Fozy Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I don't know why everyone is slagging off the 5c, my girlfriend has it and I honestly haven't seen much of a difference at all between between her 5c and my 5s. But yes, I much prefer the 5s. I've actually gotten pretty security minded as of late, don't know why, but I'm using 1Password for all my shit, and that natively works with Safari and some other apps - soon to be more in the future. So when I go to any site I, I just tap the 1Password extension thing, sign in with my Touch ID and it automatically logs me in. I haven't really had much time with the 6, or the 6 plus for that matter, I'm just not into the bigger phones. The 6 plus does have the added benefit of having a much better battery life. But the price increase for that seems a bit... shit. Quote
Fozy Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Also, you have a mac, do you not? They link very well. You can use the messages app to send imessages, text messages, receive and send calls, etc. Depending on what Bluetooth you've got in your mac, it'll even go as far as being able to start doing one thing on the phone and picking straight back up on the mac, and vice versa. Quote
fufu ÷ Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 Yeah i've got a Mac. That's one of the things attracting me to getting an iPhone, and also why the 5C coming with an iPad seems very attractive to me. I could finally be one of those Apple whores that annoy me so much, but I could do it without paying an overly ridiculous price. As far as battery life goes, is there any difference between 5C and 5S? That's probably the most important factor to me. Quote
Fozy Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I doubt it's that big of a difference really, I would look into it for you, but I have to imagine the batteries are nearly identical. Quote
Fozy Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Just had a look. iPhone 5s - 5.92 Whr (1560 mAh) iPhone 5c - 5.73 Whr (1510 mAh) Who knows what that means. Quote
fufu ÷ Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 Another important question; which colour? I'm leaning towards pink. Quote

DrJoeyMagnum Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 If it's not white it's not right On the subject of battery life I believe they're releasing an update that adds three more hours of battery life Quote
fufu ÷ Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/iphone-5c-1179311/review/9 Already read that, was looking for more first hand reviews, since those ones really only reflect the first few weeks or so. Thanks anyway though. White is boring, plus my current phone is pink, so... tradition. Quote
Fozy Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Get sky blue. It'll compliment your old phone well. Quote
Codes. Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Samsung Galaxy S6 blows the IPhone away. Especially if you like to use your phone as a camera. Quote
fufu ÷ Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 Went with a 5C in the end. Unlimited everything and an iPad was enough to convince me. Quote
