Tutorial to view models in 3DS Max(To view edits)

Tools Required

Keshire's PAC Tool -

Autodesk 3D Studio Max(10/11)(Goto 4shared and in search type 3D Max 2010.RAR,i cannot provide the links here,the file i downloaded was around 700 MB)

Preliminary Setup

Install 3Ds Max and in the plugins folder place the import plugin dll file.

Now let me begin,
1)Open Keshire's pac tool,goto EMD and extract 0 file as i have shown in the figure.

2)Rename the extension to .yobj
3)Extract all the DDS Textures
4)Open up 3DS Max
5)Drag and drop the 0.yobj file onto the window,this is where patience becomes a necessary evil.(It takes time for the model file to load up as the model files are around 20 MB size)
6)Once the model is loaded up,goto material editor option and drag and drop the textures onto the square boxes.Now simply drag and drop the dds texture onto each object.(allcolor.dds onto the body parts,attire,neck,leg etc.head.dds onto the face and eye.dds onto the eye and so on)

7)Now inorder to take the preview goto the top right corner and press this option named Render Setup,you need to check the options as i have shown in the figure.

8)Now press the render button,your wrestler preview is now displayed before you,you can save the preview to any format you want by using the save option.

Thanks for the tutorial. You can use Xoliul shader to render the models as well. Looks much better and is faster to preview changes to textures.

I'd kinda prefer you use the adfly link so I can at least receive a few pennies here and there.

 

It also let's me keep metrics and know where it's being linked from

It's your tool man, you can definitely say "you should be using my adfly link"

It's no big deal to use adfly lol. 

Better yet, I think he should just have a link pointing to your thread.

A plugin needs to be written for it first.

Iam getting error message when loding plugin.

Its loading the plugins from stdplugin folder and when I place xhptmport.DLL there it gives error saying something about duplicate name.

Do you have 32 bit or 64 bit? Because it was giving me that error too because I was using the wrong version.

you need to place the plugin in the plugins folder not stdplugins.Also you need to use the plugins based on the version X86/X64

Maybe that's the prob.

I have windows 7 64 bit but 3ds max 2011 is 32.bit

And its trail version.

Place the 32 bit one in the plug in folder not stdplugin

You have to use the plugin according to the program,not the windows version.Place the X86 plugin in the plugin folder.

A plugin needs to be written for it first.

 

 

So might anyone of you guys be able to create such a plugin? Think would be a good opportunity as I assume not anybody has access to 3dsmax.

Would be great if freeware could be used as well

Of course I do not. Was just a simple question if someone might have those knowledge or is familiar with blender...that's it nothing else

I've written blender plugins before. It's on my long list of things to do for this game. Not sure when though.
