wtferrell Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Hey guys, I've been aggravated since playing the PS4 version of 2k15, when I first heard the introduction for Sting. "From every man's nightmare...." I've set out since to find some audio files to perhaps merge into his actual theme music for a tron mod. Then I read somewhere that some folks have found the audio files for intro's, so we may eventually be able to replace the announcer. Then I set out to find some high quality audio files of Sting being announced. Needless to say, I couldn't find much, without the fans screaming, or the ring announcers talking in the background. Then I thought, Showdown: Legends of Wrestling had Gary Michael Capetta, one of my favorite ringside announcers. Fired up the game, sure enough, "From Venice Beach California, he weighs in at 250 lbs... This.... Is..... Stiiiiiiiiiiiiiing..." Perfect. Tried using Fraps to capture it, but you still heard the ripoff music Showdown used as well as the fans. Looked in the menu, seen that you can turn off crowd volume, as well as music. Played the entrance again, sure enough... PERFECT. It sounds like Gary Michael Capetta in a recording booth. I know this won't help with some of the new guys, but Showdown's roster had a TON of wrestlers that I'd love to eventually have in game. I don't know ANYTHING about modding sound files, or hex editing for that matter, but thought some of you all might prefer a retro ring announcer for your retro wrestlers. I have to figure out a way to make Fraps capture the audio cleanly though, as it lags down, and records at about 3/4 speed, but once I figure that out, we should be able to capture GMC announcing all of the old school legends. Thoughts? Opinions? Quote
PRINCE B3ASTIIE Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I've been working on a list of justin roberts announcing files. Quote
Smacktalks Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 If you just want the audio you're better off downloading Audacity and using that to record the sound.Just go to your Sound settings in Windows, then click the recording tab and right click in the box of devices. Select Show disabled devices, then right click and enable Stereo Mix.Once you've done that open Audacity and set the microphone dropdown box to Stereo Mix and it'll record whatever sound is playing on your PC Quote
wtferrell Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 I've been working on a list of justin roberts announcing files. Great, great stuff. So this could easily become a reality in the near future. If you just want the audio you're better off downloading Audacity and using that to record the sound. Just go to your Sound settings in Windows, then click the recording tab and right click in the box of devices. Select Show disabled devices, then right click and enable Stereo Mix. Once you've done that open Audacity and set the microphone dropdown box to Stereo Mix and it'll record whatever sound is playing on your PC Thanks for the information. I was just researching utlities to do just that. I'm installing it as we speak. I figure with the amount of legends that are in Showdown, that it's kind of like having your own professional announcer record for your game. Quote
frankchris2969 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Sounds like a promising idea. I would love to see Howard Finkel wrestler announce clips in the game to announce wrestlers and tag teams like Jake The Snake Roberts, Demolition....etc. It would be so cool if someone could find and figure out how to edit announcer files. bravebird31 Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Talk to Red Rooster and Lord Barker, they did a lot of audio editing last year. They maybe able to point you in the right direction. 1 Quote
Def Dave Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 (edited) A few years ago I did something very similar to this on No Mercy and WWE '12. I spent hours mixing Howard Finkel announcing clips in with entrance themes, and would totally turn down Justin Roberts in the volume settings. I uploaded a ton of them back then but the links recently went dead. I reuploaded them all tonight. Please see the link below. For more information about my Finkel project as well as an NWA and Attitude era project by The Territories: http://thewrestlinglegendsforum.com/forum/thread-11779.html Here is are some examples of how this Finkel project works in the game: WWE 2k14 featuring Tekken's CDLC HHH: WWE '13 featuring caws: More examples of how it works in the game can be seen in most of my videos on my youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5FiifRXF2QFMpzQoq8ht-g (you'll notice sometimes I've had to mix in a little Tony Chimel and other announcers, especially for 90's wrestlers when I couldn't locate good Fink audio at the time) While working on this project, I ripped Finkel's announcements from Legends of Wrestlemania without music (but with crowd noise) and you can download them here: http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=64260224084557085990 I'd like to eventually get rips of Finkel from the newer games as well, but again...no time. It would be awesome to mod in these names instead of combining them with entrance themes like I did in my project, but it's extremely difficult to locate clean, high quality copies of Finkel announcing wrestlers who haven't been in wrestling games. On a side note, I've also ripped a TON of in-match audio from WCW Mayhem and it would be a dream project to replace Michael Cole & King with Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan. It would take a lot of time and patience, but would be so awesome. Here is an mock-up video I made in WWE '13 that shows how it could potentially work: Edited May 10, 2015 by Def Dave 1 Quote
LordBarker Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 (edited) Hi Dave, could I please get any good Finkel rips you have. I'm just tidying up a sound pac for Bugsy for 2k14 and finalising my legends pack rev. 3. Anything you had would be great. Can happily supply all mine in exchange. I also have the LOWM audio without any noise. Rooster kindly converted then from yaf for me if needed, as I put a load of these in my own legends sound pck. Edited May 8, 2015 by LordBarker Quote

I would love to see Howard Finkel wrestler announce clips in the game to announce wrestlers and tag teams like Jake The Snake Roberts, Demolition....etc. It would be so cool if someone could find and figure out how to edit announcer files. This is already possible, see the tutorial here from Taker: and my Legends announce pack here: The same can be done in 15 as far as I'm aware as it would be pretty much the same process. Talk to Red Rooster and Lord Barker, they did a lot of audio editing last year. They maybe able to point you in the right direction. Thanks Brave. On a side note, I've also ripped a TON of in-match audio from WCW Mayhem and it would be a dream project to replace Michael Cole & King with Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan. It would take a lot of time and patience, but would be so awesome. This is completely possible. However this is the reality of it, in 2K14 there are about 21,000 sound files. Take away 2000-3000 for calls, towns etc. etc. and you're left with about 18,000. Let's round that down to 15,000 and each one of those needs to be replaced. In reality working full pelt and before I want to shoot myself I can do at max about 50 a day - in reality about 25!, but let's say 50 a day if you've got nothing else to do and can stand it With this calculation you're looking at about 300 days and that's before you take in to account what you're replacing as well as having to organise the sounds into folders etc. So you know exactly what you are replacing. I would love to replace the commentary with Gorilla and Jesse, truth is will I be doing it constantly for almost a year? Or for 2 years - probably not. It can definitely be done, but how it stands right now makes it very time consuming. Some of the issue lies with the fact 2K didn't organise the audio files into folders like LOWM etc. I have the Finkel rips from 2K15 - but they are not the same as 2K14 since they only paid Finkel to read one line of audio for each star, this means we do not have calls for all DLC and it means things like 'AND Hunter Hearst Helmsley' etc. have to be custom made. If you check out my sound pck for 2K14 and install it into 2K14 you'll see the ones I've made such as Santana etc. And they sound very authentic. This is because I took my time, but some are very difficult for example a clean Strike Force call from video seems to be near impossible. Others from video have come out very clean and are quite difficult to distinguish from real game ones. I only use WM arenas on 2K14 as this saves me having to replace all the Justin Roberts announcements too and means the game sounds quite authentic and nicely consistent. It is arguably far too time consuming - for me at least - to replace Roberts in 2K14. To make my own Fink calls I have located and used a lot of CAW announced names chopped up with other things. I have put up an XML list in my post - Rooster started this list so credit to him - of all my findings. I have found a lot more since then and have nearly found all 2K14 stars and towns etc. Although there are a good 10-12 I can't find and don't really have the time to find anymore. The other alternative is to add music and announcements to trons, or use the files Kim666 uploaded mute all the audio in game and set these announce and music files as the star's themes - the issue with the latter way is you don't get correct winning audio.
