Open Letter to WWEGames/2K

I want get something off my chest.

First i want everybody to know that this is not a bashing-letter against 2K or the WWE Games Franchise!

But i feel, that i need to tell someone about, what i think, is going wrong with the WWE Games for a far to long time.

My first WWE Game was SmackDown vs. RAW 2010 for Nintendo's Wii. It was i nice game back then, a great roster. Soon i found out, that i'm able to get more out of it, when i buy next years game for Sony's PlayStation 3. I got a holiday-job and bought a PS3 with the first money i really earned back in 2010. Later, when the game was released, i went to a local GameStop and purchased WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2011. Most awesome feature: CUSTOM THEME SONGS.

It had a great selection screen, incredible new matches and...how can i forget..the WWE Universe Mode. THE MOST AWESOME MODE EVER MADE! I spent thousands of hours playing the Universe Mode. It was a lot of fun. I remember creating a Tag Team out of Luke Gallows and Shad Gaspard calling them "SHADOWS" - funny stuff.

Of course i preordered WWE '12 then, expecting an even better game with new Superstars. Well WWE '12 was - by far - the game with the biggest amount of bugs and glitches i've ever seen. Especially the Universe Mode had so many bugs, it was hard to get he feuds and matches in the direction you wanted them to go. I remember how hard it was to get a character to be the No.1 Contender when you wanted him to be just that. Well atleast the Story Mode was, again, very awesome.

I was wondering if WWE '13 gets fixed, what went terribly wrong in WWE '12. Well, the biggest bugs got eventually removed.

Getting "your guy" to the No.1 Contendership was a lot easier now in the WWE Universe Mode, because 'they' made it possible to edit the rankings. I went to THQ's Videogame Forums and what i was reading was a lot of hate. Not because of the Universe Mode itself, because that mode seemed to be atleast...decent. It had a pretty lame story-mode and an incredible overload of legends, that made this game a flop (in my eyes). Of course you could create a roster full of legends, but playing the Universe Mode - still the games most valuable assett - with current superstars is way more fun! Little sidenote: The number of Divas in that game was a complete joke! I was very disappointed spending like 60 or 70 Euros (plus DLCs) for a WWE '12 with more legends and a pretty lame story-mode.

I didn't even consider buying WWE2K14 - i knew it has to be the worst Wrestling Game in history, because of THQ's bankruptcy and 2K picking up an 'almost finished' game.

In 2014 i bought a PS4, hoping for WWE2K15 beeing waaay better. New consol, new publisher, new logo, new time. This is going to be good. The PS4 can do so much more, this game will be a milestone!
I knew about Sony dropping the MP3-feature. So i was expecting CUSTOM THEME SONGS not making the cut. Even when Sony released a new update making MP3s possible on PS4, i knew i have to wait until WWE2K16 gets released. But it was okay, because i was expecting the best of the WWE Game series all in one plus awesome new modes like "MyCareer" ringing in the next generation of Wrestling-Games.

Well i got new graphics and a MyCareer-Mode that obviously has been created with a lot of passion, but yet is no fun (for me).

Defening the title every week against an opponent that is far too strong for you is just not cool. Winning the title back the next week against the same oppnent (but 10-times weaker this time) is just stupid.

The story-mode is finally cool again, but i really wish RtWM would return. The storylines were a classic and sometimes even better than the real ones! Remember William Regal, Sheamus, Wade Barrett and Drew McIntyre forming a stable? DAMN that was crazy!

Then there is the roster. Again a lot of legends - but the roster was okay in the end. The real problem is that the game is missing of so many features like matches and entrances-motions, it can't be worth the price you have to pay for it.

Sorry, but this is what the game makes me feel like. The Universe Mode hasn't improved. It still has the same bugs it used to have in WWE '13 and the Rivary Manager is the most annoying feature EVER.

It's WWE2K14 with waaay better grapics and a MyCareer Mode, while WWE2K14 is WWE '13 with even more legends.

I want current superstars (for the Universe Mode) and i want a game in which i don't have to deal with bugs (which i will list in the following minutes) that have been there for years. It makes the game unplayable sometimes and i'm asking myself:

When will this finally change???

I know it's hard to make a game that everyone loves, but you can atleast try to get rid of the bugs and start improving all of your modes with each passing year (just a little bit please!).

It doesn't have to be an all new game every year, but i it should atleast improve and it should be up-to-date (as far as possbile). All i wanna have is fun, but this is no fun. I'm spending to much money for not having fun anymore.

The list of bugs/glitches i experienced playing WWE2K15:

Fat=Happens everytime

- The Menu-Music is playing during the matches

- Summer Rae i not present during Fandango's entrances (Fandango is doing weird stuff)

- No Entrance Music (happened only once)

- Justin Roberts not announcing Rusev as champion

- Using Bo Dallas' spear signature move doesn't 'produce' a Finishing Move

- Face-Textures are doing weird stuff (atleast in 1 match per Universe-Week)

- Game Freezing in general

- Opponent still gets up very quickly after 6+ finishers

- Tag Team Matches (4 & 6 person) are taking an unusual amount of time, having the oppenent breaking the pin up every damn time (Every difficulty).

- Weird cut-scenes not beloning there (Universe Mode)

- Rivary Manager completley changing your matchcard, when you're editing only one match

- Characters freezing during tags (happens pretty often)

- Not beeing able to have Erick Rowan & Luke Harper as Wyatts Managers in Universe Mode (no bug, but i don't understand the reason for that)

- Camera is going wild, showing everything but the ring

- Characters Freezing during Signatures/Finishers

- Game stopping after a match in Universe mode (black screen after the hightlights)*

- Game doing nothing after a match in Universe Mode (without highlights, characters a just standing there)*

- Michael Cole calling the match before the Main Event the actual Main Event (WWE Universe Mode)

- Downloaded Community Creations for Tyson Kidd can NOT be edited. Doing so, the game just stops immediatly every time showing an error-code (reported numorous times to 2K and Sony - no response).

- Matches with the Tyson Kidd Character always seem bugged in some ways (camera struggles or long loading-times/the Character is NOT having a custom attire at the moment)

and many more. There is so much, most of them causing the game to stop, i can't even remember all right now.

*= I have to restart the game and i have to play the match again, pretty often the bug appears again then. Simulating generates the 'wrong' wrestler/team to win.

I'm pretty upset. And yes, i bought the DLC for 25 € to get more out of the game, but i try to expect less from it as of right now, maybe getting even more bugs with the new DLC-pack. Who knows?

(Again: It's not a bashing letter, even if it looks like it).

I appreciate you taking the time to write all this up Walu. I agree we need a updated roster like NBA2K. If people want legends make them dlc. Universe mode should be as update as they can, but then they won't be able to make a game every year... I am experiencing the same bugs as well, so much so I have stopped playing the game, with all the freezes etc. Again, people can state their own opinion about your post, but at least you care about the franchise enough to list, what is wrong with it.

I reported the game-stopping problems to 2K a few times since November. I just felt like i had to open up somewhere^^

I'm at the point where i wish they had stopped and said "This isn't right, let's do a do-over" cause the marketing was horrible, the IGN First thing failed miserably then at the last minute they delay the game, Jared bans a bunch of people off the 2k forums cause they hate Eva marie, he gets fired, marcus takes the heat over all that had happened thus far, we get a game and have so many things missing, the reason being "building a foundation" yet, the same glitches that were in SVR11 are in next gen's 2k15 (can't speak for last gen as i haven't played on those systems) So yeah something needs to be done and it needs to be addressed. If you'd like, i can tweet it in a twitlonger message to Marcus Stephenson since he does follow me and listens to me about 85% of the time when he's not watching NHL NFL or NBA Religiously LOL

well i agree with everything you wrote, pretty much this entire thing since the game was announced just was wrong on so many levels. I'm at the point where i wish they had stopped and said "This isn't right, let's do a do-over" cause the marketing was horrible, the IGN First thing failed miserably then at the last minute they delay the game, Jared bans a bunch of people off the 2k forums cause they hate Eva marie, he gets fired, marcus takes the heat over all that had happened thus far, we get a game and have so many things missing, the reason being "building a foundation" yet, the same glitches that were in SVR11 are in next gen's 2k15 (can't speak for last gen as i haven't played on those systems) So yeah something needs to be done and it needs to be addressed. I appreciate the effort you took to air the grievances many of us share with this game. What I don't understand is, why doesn't 2K release free DLC for their "fuck-up"? Ubisoft and Evolution Studios manned up to their mistakes, but 2K aren't even acknowledging it by offering anything off from their overpriced DLC. I remember when Masked Kane was announced a few years ago as a surprise DLC for THQ's server issues.
