jitz Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Once again, they clearly struggled to get a product out the door this year. It's evidenced through some highly polished gameplay...and some extremely rushed gameplay and features. The early match tie ups are a decent idea, the implementation leaves a lot to be desired and clearly not a finished feature. The icons and HUD elements associated with it are garish, unnecessarily large and for a feature aiming for realism, everything associated with it detracts from the realism. The pin mechanic is also a holdover from bygone years that clearly is out of place and made for the older more arcade-like gameplay. On the whole, the Showcase mode is the highlight. Longevity will come from the two DLC Showcase packs, because CAW is pretty limited. It's just not that game that people will be playing a year from now, you'll only fire this up when each DLC is released and then put it away again. More development time needed, but a lot of good signs of things to come. And hopefully the model quality is equalized a bit, some look great, some far less so. Sting's hair is awful. Quote
Spinebuster_94 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I think you've written a fair review of the game. Can't disagree with anything you've said. Quote
Honor Me Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I won't be putting this game completely away, being that I'm a diehard and 2K has me by the balls, not to mention it's the only wrestling game out that's worth a damn on the market. It reminds of next gen NBA 2K14, which was also rushed. It meant well and had some good ideas, but obviously wasn't a complete product. They proceeded to knock it out of the park with 2K15 after they had another year. Quote
The Ritty Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 playing with your friends is pretty fun - everything else is stank. Showcase is GARBAGE but that's juts me because I had no interest in either of the feuds given to us and the only one i want is the path of the warrior. But the games prior were 'better' at least in their respective campaigns. The fact that I can't turn the 6-man battle royal into a pin or submit type match is total bullshit, Over the ropes? WTF is the rumble for then? Unless I missed some options somewhere...and the pin system is a TOTAL joke and for the 4th(?) straight year in a row RUINS the game. Quote
Codes. Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 The only thing I can correct in your review is there are 3 dlc showcases. Quote
Gold Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Just like i expected, a flop after a long line of hype, don't get me wrong it's a good start but not worth the money and the product is like mentioned clearly rushed, there's just no replay value, especially when all the DLC packs release, a pretty awfully limited creation suite and a not so long career mode with once again a plain Jane universe mode, not my cup of tea. But now the base has been made i can't wait to see how 2K16 looks. Quote
jitz Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 (edited) The only thing I can correct in your review is there are 3 dlc showcases. I had already realised my mistake but figured it so trivial that I couldn't be bothered editing in the correction. Unfortunately for 2K, if this game had of been released on its original date, it would have had no competition. But now it has AC Unity, GTA V and Dragon Age Inquisition - all far better games. There's no way to recommend a purchase of WWE 2K15 now that the PS4/XB1 finally have some good games to play. Edited November 21, 2014 by jitz Quote
