the most 'jekyll and hyde' game ever?

I've got such mixed emotions about this game. Played for a bit this morning and hated it. Nothing seemed to click in a match, the commentary was broken and it just felt terrible.

Just had another blast and had probably the best match ive ever had on a wrestling game. A full on 20 minute classic between Brock and Hogan!

One thing is certain, they need to fix the pin bar. It just goes too quick when you're into a match and it's spoiling classic matches.

Anybody else got mixed emotions about the game?

In a way, all the feedback's getting me bummed; breaking my excitement but at the same time I'm so excited, it feels almost as if my game is going to be different, but in reality it won't be.

Pin bar really has spoiled a lot of matches for me, but they are always fun up to that point. I like playing the game a lot, although obviously it's too early to say whether that will last. For every good thing there seems to be something that has slipped or failed to hit the desired standard.

From what I've heard today from playing, the in-match commentary sounds the same as the last gen version, which uses lines from 2K14, which uses lines from WWE 13, which uses lines from WWE 12.

 

If anybody can tell me what's different about the in-match commentary besides the addition of the new roster members names/finishers, please do so..

I can't stop thinking how bullshit the caw mode is but I then I play a match or two and Im enjoying myself

The commentary is different. It mentions old matches now and facts about superstars. The compromise is that it's recorded at a slightly different volume to the original commentary so it sticks out like a sore thumb.

The actualy movements remind me of RAW, though the move captures kick the shit out of anything Raw had.

I'd like the gameplay in general to speed up, end up somewhere between what we have and 14. Tighten up the response of the controls to animations also.
Pin bar feels like it did last year on 14, if I was playing online. Like there's some lag, it's consistant lag though, so I can work with it.


Overall I'm enjoying it, though there are some cons.

In 6 man tag matches you can only control 2 of the 3 participants.
I got caught in the AA when I was RVD trying to hit the 5 star, after that the finisher prompt wouldn't show up on the 5 star.
Also lots of quirky spots for signatures and finisher, being a half step off one way will cause nothing to happen.

Another week of gameplay though and I'll be use to any of the odd stuff.

care to tell me how? hitting select or whatever it is only gets me between the first two selected.
If I tag them in I keep control of illegal man, if I do a tag move to get them in it's the same.

XB1 if it matters.

yeah i like some of the new feats in ring but also some things i dont like in the ring. sometimes it takes to long to strike, say i hit the X button it takes a full sec or 2 before they actually even swing. Which sucks when the person is getting up u steady hitting the strike button or even grapple and it doesn't do anything sometimes the person gets up and has time to swing on me even though im steady hitting the button

I'd agree with you. So much is left behind, the roster kinda stinks (imo) and that pin bar that I've been bitching about for YEARS. At least put the button mashing option in. Button mashing was great because the one who wins is usually the one who had the most finger strength left (such BATTLES we'd have) but the bar - for christs' sake the count is at 2 while the bar is coming back up - leaving you time for 3... Terrible, just terrible. Who enjoys losing a match in 2 mins or a gruelling battle in 2 seconds out of nowhere BECAUSE of bad 'mechanics'.

 

It looks awesome though - my jaw dropped at warrior. The new outfit is much better and when I first saw him I instantly wanted a real legends game. He looks great. I don't think I'll have much use for this game until the legends pack comes out. After seeing Warrior - Hogan, Andre, Savage, Honky, Rude, Taker, Slaughter, Sherri and Sid are gonna look AWESOME. But why wasn't Piper kept? Seriously!? And Goldy neing gone sucks too...

As stoked as I am for the above dlc -the wcw pack just confuses me...We could have had Goldberg, Hall, Nash, Steiner, DDP and the dc of sting and HHHogan - but whatever, that's just my opinion.

 

And the season pass? Paige as a bonus character? Why wasn't she just free at launch? That's no selling point.

 

Caw mode is weird...I hate there's no custom music...

 

I'm on the fence about it but aside from the graphics I'm not so sure the upgrade to xbox1 was necessary.

I turned off stamina last night, and the delay seemed to almost disappear, or atleast it was reduced a lot.

Yeah, ive turned off the Stamina and I'm having better matches now. The ironic thing is, I think stamina works better with it off. Wrestlers still get gassed but only well into a match now. I reckon the sliders might be key to a perfect in game
