bluemonkeymagic Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 So, before I have my mini rant, I should say that I am extremely excited about the game. It looks fantastic and I am really looking forward to trying the new gameplay. My issue is that this 25 slot rubbish. While I understood the 25 slots for CAW, it annoys me that you have to use a slot when editing existing superstars. I've just been having a mooch round the PSN store and noticed that wwe 2k15 is only 22gb in size! Just to put this in perspective, GTA V is 45gb Assassins Creed is 41gb NBA 2k14 is 46gb While I know 22gb isn't THAT small, I am just curious why they couldn't have added more slots. I mean, they could have just doubled the amount of superstar slots. Anyway, mini rant over. no doubt they'll just say its down to time restrictions but I just thought I'd share...cause you all care right? Quote
Titavius Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I've a feeling they're saving CAW slots for for a future patch. I dunno, something tell's me there will be an option to 'unlock' slots by purchasing DLC. It'll be similar to how in some games you unlock additional Character slots, or additional emblem slots after purchasing online content. If not, I honestly don't know why they chose to stick with the 25. 22gb of data is nothing these days. They're using dual layer Bu-Ray discs, so things like CAW slots shouldn't really be an issue, considering CAW's are saved on the consoles internal Hard drive! Quote
bluemonkeymagic Posted November 13, 2014 Author Posted November 13, 2014 I'd pay for more slots, it's lame but the potential to edit is amazing this year. Quote
fufu ÷ Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I'm think CAW files might be huge, so they had to limit them until they can find a better way to compress the data. I don't think they'd just do that on a whim. It's easy to say, "you have this much space, you should use it all", but the reality is that time is a factor, and they probably just didn't have the time to use everything. One thing that does mean is that there is a lot of room for future growth, which is always a good thing. 1 Quote

That makes them huge. This has been said a couple times by Marcus himself Quote

Bale Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 (edited) Here's the funny thing in 2k14 we have 100 slots with limited superstar heads and in 2k15 we can edit all the roster with 25 slots lol, but i think the are gonna solve this problem in 2k16 for sure. Titavius Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Since when have developers ever been conscious of how much space somebody may or may not have on their hardrive? the consensus has always been "if you don't have enough room, make room, or don't play the game". Games come with warnings for this sort of thing. The warning on the back of GTA is basically telling you that if you don't have room, you won't be able to install the content. 2K haven't just suddenly developed a heart.. "oh, well, let's give em 25 slots, because they might not have room for any more CAWs" Bullshit! The reason for having only 25 slots has nothing to do with how much room you have on your internal HDD! Unless, I dunno, this year your CAW gets saved onto your disk!? Not likely. Quote

Installing a game is different to having space for things generated in the game. Installation is a finite number. CAW data or other data could realistically take up all the space if unregulated, and you would assume Microsoft and Sony would impose limits on how much each game can use, so that their consumers have room - and therefore incentive - to download more games and pay more money. It's a business at the end of the day. Quote

But i'm also not going to just say they limited it for no reason, or for some cynical reason. I'm guessing big enough to justify a limit. Quote
jitz Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 This topic is misinformed. 2K said that 25 CAWs takes up the maximum save space allowed by the platform holders (Sony and Microsoft). Disc space and space taken up by DLC etc is irrelevant, it's the space allowed for saved game data that is maxed out. This is also the reason why Minecraft on these consoles still doesn't support infinite worlds, they will only build a world to the max save size allowed. Quote
gamingsinceatari Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 All the optimistic theories are cool but lets face reality. They do these things so next year they'll have something to hook you with. WWE2K16 "Now with 50 slots for your CAWS!" WWE2K17 "Now with 100 slots for your CAWS!" It's all about business at the end of the day. All that "disk space" talk they feed us is just non sense. I know this and I'm fine with it, it wont stop me from spending $60+ with the rest of you. 1 Quote
Sunny Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 So, there is hope yet for that "Get WWE 2K18 and win a night with Layla... to the person with the golden ticket!" Quote
Titavius Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 (edited) I just can't wait to create my all-Diva roster! All 80 of them! It's gonna be awesome. I'm gonna create a couple of Arenas for them, and then design a story to put it all together! Can't wait till Tuesday Edited November 13, 2014 by Titan83 Quote
Sunny Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 "And suddenly from the corridor which enveloped him, a tall shadowy figure protruded from the ground. Stunned, Titan was petrified yet astonished, as his curiosity got the better of him. So, he ventured on further and with each passing step, the silhouette which daunted him appeared to not have anymore as it was a sight he was all too familiar with. Not one word was spoken from or to , but a nod was shared. The stern look emitted from the man on the podium appeared to say more than words ever could. With mutual agreement established, the man disappeared into the ground from which he came as his duty for the day was done. His appearance was enough to signify a distinct message." Quote
bluemonkeymagic Posted November 13, 2014 Author Posted November 13, 2014 The caw slot size would have nothing to do with them adding an extra attire slot per wrestler in game. I mean they could have at least adding Rollins and Ambrose as extra attires using their own tech. Quote
