Pale Gribble Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Can't find any thread that discusses the consoles themselves, so I'm going to have to ask. I do not own a modded console and was one of those people who used save editors in the past, but after reading about all the cool things a modded console can do, I want to try it out. I'll likely buy the things needed on Black Friday because 1) it will likely be cheaper and 2) various 2k15 DLC would be out by then, and we'll know how the 2k15 to 2k14 conversion have been like. However nothing is worse than buying the wrong things, so I want to verify things well in advance beforehand. Since I own 2k14 on PS3 (the game everyone says is better to stick to) and my cousin allows me to borrow his PS3, I'll start with PS3 questions. 1) What's the best modding device for the PS3? I hear Jailbreak mentioned, but that's kind of it. RGH and Jtag are mentioned for 360 and I hear RGH is supposedly only available on 360. Jailbreak doesn't sound as great going off some the comments here in comparison to RGH and JTAG, so what else is there? 2) Are codes for PS3 and Xbox 360 compatible with one another? I originally thought no because I keeping on hearing how different the PS3 and 360 were designed and it's why codes and save editors always come out first for the 360, but some recent comments by people here actually say they are, which surprises me. Anyone here with a modded PS3 about to confirm that 360 codes indeed work for the PS3? This is especially important considering all the community DLCs out there for 2k14. 3) Is a modded console able to do anything a save editor is able to do like change wrestler stats, gender, height, etc? I originally thought yes, but some comments imply no, so I like to know for sure. This is important because the 2k14 save editor never came out and I'm willing to guess it's going to be the same thing for 2k15, so this would be a problem. 4) Simple question but what's the ideal storage space size for a modded console in gigabytes? The size for PS3 and 360 has changed throughout the year, so would be nice to know which model should I purchase. Quote
N'Jadaka Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 (edited) 1. To install cfw on a ps3 normally you need a system with the firmware to be 3.55 or older. There is also a device called a ODE that works with the newer systems but that requires soldering and such. 2. Yes and no. The files are the same but the methods for modding some actions are slightly different from ps3 to xbox. 3. Short answer, for ps3 you'll absolutely need cfw or a ode. For PS3 you'll need to do a bit more. It's definitely more tedious than the x-box adding custom dlc and such. 4. That's personal preference, but the bare minimum would probably be enough to handle the file load of the game + the mods you plan to implement. In every game section on this site there's a tutorial section and a help section. I'd suggest you read through the tutorials and help section. Most of the answers to your questions are there, TRUST ME do that first & it'll help you out in more ways than one. Google "PS3 cfw" & a million tutorials will pop up & start you on the basics. Pale Gribble Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 Thanks for the answers man. Something else my brother brought up that definitely needs to be asked. Is it true a modded console can't go online? One advantage PS3 has over 360 is the free online, but if a modded console can't go online, than that's one advantage gone. Quote
N'Jadaka Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 You can but there's always a risk of being banned. If your console gets banned it can be a pain in the butt. Quote
Pale Gribble Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 You can but there's always a risk of being banned. If your console gets banned it can be a pain in the butt. Oh okay then. Also I don't think I need to worry about getting banned. I don't actually play online matches. I just like the community creations because there are some seriously creative people out there who are constantly impressing me with their work. Quote
N'Jadaka Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 No I'm talking about getting your console banned. View this http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=46647 Quote
tekken57 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) You can adjust the stats of indivdual wreslers, heights, etc with X-Packer 9. However it only works for the 360 and not the ps3. The ps3 save has not been successfully decrypted as yet and probably won't be. If you are buying a console specifically to mod the wwe games, I would go for a rgh or jtag over a ps3. I own both and use my 360 more than my ps3 for modding any games. Edited November 10, 2014 by tekken57 1 Quote
Pale Gribble Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 (edited) No I'm talking about getting your console banned. View thishttp://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=46647 Thanks for this. Will be useful and will help with my decisions to pursue that modded console. Buy Xbox live only to be banned for having a modded console would've really sucked. You can adjust the stats of indivdual wreslers, heights, etc with X-Packer 9. Thanks for the info. Think I'll first just purchase WWE 2k14 for the 360 first and have fun with X-packer 9. Then if I'm feeling like having the full experience, I'm going to buy the modded 360 console. Probably be spending my modding time attempting to access the moveset and mod create a finisher. There are some moves you can't have as sigs or finishers for some dumb reason. Everyone knows about the caf problems and it's weak power. Supposedly the game ironically doesn't read caf as actual finishers despite their name. Going to see if I can find any solutions to that or if we can by some miracle we the caf damage counter from previous games (WWE 12 I believe had overpowered caf, which would be more ideal than weak as piss finishers) into 2k14. Also simple question, but any idea how much memory space does the modded game take if you, say have all the characters from WWE 12 to 2k14 (we can probably add 2k15 to the list soon) along with the special features in it like 100 caw slots? Have no idea if it will be like 1/5 the size of a normal saved game or 5 times it. People say they're going to try and transfer moves and OMG moments in 2k14. We'll see how successful that is and we can work from there. Edited November 12, 2014 by Pale Gribble Quote
