Tekken57's state of the nation address - DLC news

Hey guys. Just got back into the country last night. Don't have the game as yet but wanted to share my thoughts.

1. Game models

Downloaded one of the RVD mods from the modding section this morning and the format has changed slightly. I have coded a function to read new the model format and it works fine. It will take me about a week to recode the injection functions to accommodate the new format though.

I also started coding some functions to extract and replace bones and a few utilities (fixing params in wwe 12 models and superstar heads). It will take some time to test these as well but you will be able to do some cool stuff with the bone functions. Will explain later.

User's who have paid for X-Rey already, will receive the above updates FOR FREE in the next version of X-Rey.

I expect the new model format for next gen to be vastly different, so I am uncertain as to wether X-Rey will be able to support reading/ injection or how long it will take to decipher the format. We will see when the models are released (hopefully from the pc version).

2. X-Packer

From briefly reading the posts on the forums this morning, I can see that many modders are opting to remain on 2k14 due to features being removed from 2k15. I have yet to try the game out and to see what's possible before commenting.

Coding support for the 2k15 save file will take extensive of work though and it will take time to get the same kind of functionality as 2k14. As such I will need to charge for X-Packer 10.

I've also received a lot of pm's about importing moves and the possibility of hacking old entrances/ custom playlists into the 2k15. I can't comment until I get the game. Never looked into the individual playlist values in the moveset file before.

I also aim to add support for the pc version of the game when it is released, so there will probably be a lot of development in X-Packer 10 in this regard. I will see if this is possible when the game is released.

This is where the community needs to guide me though. X-Packer is made for the modding community so I will code the features which are required by the community.

is this a new x rey?can i use my old code?

No problem in giving more 10$ if it has some new good features. One thing that i allways loved on Brienj Pac archiver tool was the option to see a dds file before extracting it.

Do you think that you could add this opiion on x-packer 10?

Great to have you back, man! Thanks for the update on everything. Just hearing you even mention the prospect of modding the newer version has me excited--wasn't sure if that was something you were planning to venture into.

And definitely, IamCrazy. That would be an extremely useful function. Hell, the overall structure of brienj's Archiver may be something to look into if there has to be an entirely new version of X-Packer made.

Did you even read what we wrote?

Great to hear your back and looking into things!

I have no problem in spending more money to help you out as your doing it in your spare time. I'll more than likley be the first one to "pre-order" if thats how its going to be.

Looks like "so far" its the save data as the custom DLC I prepared looked ok in X-Packer. Although there was two things different, but I was going to test it out after editing the Save Data.

I'll be supporting it, It's worth more but I'll gladly pay $10....

@jcsix, hang on before you pre order though, I want to take a look at the save format and see if the xbox version can read the file uncompressed before doing anything. If the save file format is the same as the ps3 version (i.e. multiple zlib files in the save), then we are in trouble.

I will know later this afternoon when I buy the game and look at the save file. Hopefully it will remain similar to last years game. The wrestler info format also changes each year as does the dlc flag in there. These will need to be set to enable dlc.

@shonpu, I am going to have to increase the cost slightly as I am getting nailed on fees through paypal and my bank. I was thinking around $14, which leave me with about $5 after fees.

@IamcrazyPT, I coded a dds preview in X-Packer 8.1. The problem is that there is native dds handler for c# and I had to use a 3rd party ddl file to perform the preview. This was extremely buggy and didn't display dds files with alpha correctly. I'll look into the xna framework if I get some time, maybe they have a new way to handle dds files.

@OTE, I'm not a fan on uncompressing bpe files and holding in memory and it becomes very resource intensive on c#. I want to get the basics down first i.e. reading the save, wrestler info, dlc, movesets, entrances, etc. Time permitting, I will look into alternate ways of doing this, however I get the feeling we are going to be quite busy when the pc version hits.

I guess while we are making requests. Is there anyway that xpacker could have function that could import modified wwise files back into the .pck files? I doubt it but it's worth asking.

No problem, but you really do deserve more than you have been given! So even if it is bad news, I'll be donating away as without you, none of this would be like it is!

I will gladly pay the $14! All I really want at this point is the save file to be accessible so I can add DLC. :)

So glad your back! 2k15 wouldn't have been the same without you.

This would be super useful - although can't imagine how it'd work! Having replaced over 80 audio files this would be a huge time saver in future if it was in any way possible :)
