Added yobj is becoming invisible

Hi there,

I need a little help with adding a yobj to an existing pach.

Thanks to an idea from tekken, I`m currently working on object swaps to create entrance attire and enhancing my mods.

At the moment, I`m working on a Velvet Sky mod.
The idea was to give her an attire which bases on the "skirt and leg warmer boots" thing...

Attire inspiration

Here is what I did so far:

  • used the pach of Kelly Kelly as model base
  • changed her hair yobj with the Ultimate Warriors (to add the "leg warmer boots...") (file 2710.bpe)
  • unwrapped UVW in 3ds Max and modified the normal.dds
  • replaced the objects in the yobj with X-Rey
  • inserted the modified yobj into Kelly Kellys pach with X-Packer

First result: Kelly Kelly had Warriors hairstyle and "leg warmer boots", all worked fine in game.

As I wasn`t satisfied with her having the Warriors hair, I used the following steps:

  • again using Kelly Kellys now modified pach
  • reduced the size of Warriors hair in 3DS Max, so it could be hidden inside the model
  • replaced the yobj in 4E22 of Kellys pach with the hair of Brie Bella (her file 2710.bpe)
  • unwrapped UVW in 3ds Max and modified the normal.dds
  • replaced objects in the yobj with X-Rey
  • inserted the modified yobj of the Bella hair into Kellys pach (file 4E22)

Here is what it looked like in 3ds Max:
zH9DRG.jpg
That`s exactly what I wanted it to look like.

Here comes the part with the problem:
In game the model loads... but the hair is almost invisible.
I thought it had to do with transparency and the normal.dds so I checked it again.
No luck, the hair and leg warmers were in place.
So I changed the yobj of 2710.bpe with 4E22.bpe.
This time the hair was clearly visible, the "leg warmer boots" were invisible.

It seems only one of the two yobj can be visible at a time.

First I thought it had to do with using two hair yobjs.

But I had the same problem with a Maryse mod:

I added the Undertakers coat to create an entrance attire.

Result: the coat is barely visible, but apart from that the model works fine.

Can someone please tell me, where I`m going wrong?

Did you edited the Alpha Layer from the Normal.dds to the Full White (#ffffff) color for the new hair/obj that you're replacing?

Yes I did. The needed parts in the alpha layer are full white.

To clear it up:

I have two yobjs:

  • yobj 12 is Warriors hair and stuff
  • yobj 13 is Bellas hair

All objects in both yobjs have their own area in the normal.dds.

The alpha layer is edited white for both areas.

There are two variants I used:

  1. yobj 12 in 2710.bpe, yobj 13 in 4E22.bpe

Result: Warriors stuff (yobj 12) is visible, Bellas hair (yobj 13) is invisible

  2. yobj 13 in 2710.bpe, yobj 12 in 4E22.bpe

Result: Bellas hair (yobj 13) is visible, Warriors stuff (yobj 12) is invisible

Both variants use the same normal.dds/alpha layer.

The only thing I did is import the yobjs into the pach with X-Packer.

I know exactly what the deal is, as I've ran into it myself in the past.

No matter what you have in the 4E22 slot, that's going to happen. It's an issue completely independent from the alphas, etc. It simply has to do with the way the game renders the models. If you go back into the game, and go into the highlight reel mid-match or load up the model in a Story Designer cutscene, try zooming in on it (well, not just zooming in but bringing the camera closer to it). You'll notice that the YOBJ will become clearer and more visible. However, the farther away the camera is, the more transparent it looks. My guess is that things are like this so when the models are seen from afar, the game doesn't have to waste time trying to render the eyelashes when you wouldn't even be able to see them but will still be able to do so as soon as it needs to if the camera cuts to a close-up, as the YOBJ--while not always visible--is always technically there. Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to stop it from occurring, if there even is a way at all.

^ Well that make sense. Is good to know... I had some Ideas using the 4E22, now you saved my trial and error time.

Same problem as my disappearing arena objects.

If we could figure out the parameter that controls the visibility of the object in relation to the camera position then we could fix this but Ive had a look through the objects and I couldnt see anything obvious.

Thanks, so the game thinks exactly as I did: who needs eyelashes... ;)

Do you know of any way I can add a yobj into a pach?

Kellys pach only has 2 yobjs to use. Her hair and the eyelashes.

Just creating a new pach with an additional yobj like 2904.bpe (as the Undertaker uses to have) or replacing a pof0 with the additional yobj crashes the game... :(

Or may TopoGun be a work around if I mod Warriors hair objects to match the bellas...? May give it a try..

Sadly, I do not. The Undertaker method, as you mentioned (I've also used some of the Rock's PACHs in the past, as the elbow pads make for additional YOBJ slots) just crashes the game when you go into a match. I've had success with that as far as entrances go (namely an entrance attire I made for McIntyre seen here), but if I were to have that PACH loaded into a match, Story Designer scene, etc. it crashes. I spoke with Tekken about it a good bit a while back, and I think it could have something to do with a limit on how much the game can load during a match, and having a long hair YOBJ (or at least ones that aren't a ponytail) just makes it too much for the game to handle.

Its not gonna work until we find a way to add instead of replacing.

I tried everything believe me

Download my Sting pach file which contains a trenchcoat object. There are four yobj files in there i.e. main wrestler, eyebrows, hair and one other yobj.

Replace the main wrestler yobj with yours. There are two other slots which have uncimpressed yobj files in them (the extension should be jboy). Replace those with the objects you need injected. I left the 2710 slot as is i.e the original hair is still in there.

It's a matter of trial and error though, some objects refuse to display when combined in a pach others work fine, some have transparency issues, etc. Also the order in which the yobj files are loaded in the pach makes a difference so try injecting in different slots in the pach.

Let us know if it works  for you.

 Oh yeah, didnt finish it. I will upload the pach with the multiple yobj's tomorrow, don't have it with me now. I used it for a bandanna less Hogan belt hack a while back also and it displayed all the objects.

The problem will be replacing that original hair.

Everytime i tried something similar it never works even if i inject the original hair yobj.

Same thing happen to me with the Boby with glasses you send me. As soon as i inject any hair even the original one untouch it crash the game.

I dont want to go against what you saying Tekken but if someone can successfully inject new yobjs in this patch then hes the fucking king of the world and i might just go in a corner in a fetus possition and cry.

I have tried every single pach in this game and if it wasnt for this i would probably be releasing legend4 right now.

If someone can pull this off it got to be you , to anybody else trying this i say good luck my friend !!!!

Thanks Tekken, I`ll try it with your Sting pach and post the results here.

Tried to get TopoGun to work yesterday for a different approach.

But it seems my computer is to old for that. :(

Guess it`s time to look for a new one...

Still have that Luger mod to do... ;)

Here's my most recent Hogan mod. The pach file contains 4 yobj models. I have used 001A for the belt, 2710 for the hair and 001b is the original 2710 hair object from the model but I set the alpha to black so it doesnt display.

Try this out by replacing 0000 with your wrestler yobj, 2710 with the hair and 001A with the leg warmers. Let me know wether it works for you:

At the moment, I`m setting up my new pc, but will try that tomorrow and post the results here.

Thanks again. :)

Thanks Tekken, tried inserting my files into your Hogan pach.

But the game keeps on crashing when selecting my mod, just like OverTheEdge said.

So, with the help of GameElite I went back to the idea of using TopoGun for changing the remaining Warrior hair into the Bella`s.

I only converted the largest object of the Warriors hair to match the hair yobj of the Bellas. So keep in mind i didn`t bother to edit the objects in 3DS Max. The attire is far from accurate and finished, too.

I was just testing if it worked out.

And here is the result:

oM5zMI.jpg

The sad part is, it doesn`t solve the real issue I had at first.

The good part is, I can continue with my Velvet mod and I started to get some new ideas involving TopoGun for Maryse, Mickie, Tara, Gail, Melina and the Beautiful People... but those will be revealed over time in my mod thread... ;)

So thanks again everyone.

Looks really good, so far man :p

It could be freezing because you are injecting two hair objects if I understand you correctly. Also sometimes some objects are not compatible with each other for some reason and causes the game to crash.

I injected another yobj into the pach I post, it now has four yobj files i.e wrestler, shirt, jeans and hair. It loads fine without any graphical issues:

Yes, looks like the two hair objects cause the problem.

Will test your Hogan pach with the Maryse entrance attire i tried as soon as I get home.

And of course show the results here.

Thanks again.
