hi i was just wondering if there is any way of playing back up copies of games without useing a mod chip e.g. a piece of software like there was for the ps1. you had to put the disk in then there would be a screen that said insert your game now. if any body could help me i would be grateful :)

Yes there is. There is a piece of hardware called a flip top cover that comes with software called Swap Magic. For more information, go on over to:

They pretty much show you how it works and how much it costs to order one.

Or, get a slide tool. It's easier(IMO), and it only costed $15 USD last time I saw it.

Yes, but with a slide tool you risk break your disk tray. A flip top may be a little more expensive, but you don't risk breaking anything either. You may void your PS2's warranty by putting on a flip top, BUT the warranty for a PS2 only last a couple of months anyway.

Can I just ask somthing here?? When I got my new PS2 just before Christmas it said on the back of the box that it could read DVD+ and DVD - disks. Does that apply to only DVD movies or if I copied a game onto a blank DVD would it read it without the MOD chip or anything?? Thanks in advance for the help :)

It does not even apply to movies as far as I know. I think you're DVD Movies just like the games are written on DVD-ROM's. As to answer your question if it says it can read DVD - and DVD + media, then it means it will read at least the following media types:

DVD-R

DVD+R

It might also read:

DVD-RW

DVD+RW

These media are used for copying DVD Movies and you can also copy Playstation 2 games that are on DVD-ROM's.

ohh and sorry to mention this now but would i be able to make back up copys with a CD-RW thanks in advance

You can burn about 5% of PS2 titles onto a CD-RW, most use DVDs. You can download rips of games, but you'd have to be really cheap to do that and miss out on a large protion of the game (music, cut scenes etc). You can also rip the games yourself, but seems as you're asking these questions I'm assuming you don't have the know-how.

Oh and you've posted in the wrong forum again. I suggest you don't come into the off topic forums.
