*Tutorial* Replacing Brand Logos

I didn't see a tutorial on this so I decided to post one. Yes it isn't that difficult, but it will save newer members the time of finding the right .pac file, etc. Thanks to Red as I borrowed some of his wording from a different tut.

Remember to always backup your files before you attempt any sort of modding!

1) Open MnLayHD.pac in Xpacker9 and extract UMTX.pac.

2) Open Pach UMTX.pac and uncompress 1B59.zlib.

3) Open Texture Archive 1B59.zlip.uncompressed.

4) Extract the .DDS file you want to edit/replace. Example: brandlogo_WCW.dds

5) Create your new logo, retain the resolution of 256x128 and save it as DDS DXT5 with no MIP maps.

At this point if you injected the logo back into the game it won't display properly as the alpha layer needs to be corrected.

6) Turn off the RGB layers and turn on the alpha layer.

I use Photoshop to view/modify the alpha layer while Paint Shop Pro remains my main editor (personal preference).

As you can see the alpha layer is the original logo not the newly created logo.

Whatever is "white" in the alpha layer will be displayed in-game, whatever is "black" will not.

7) Use the eyedropper tool and choose the white color (255, 255, 255) for the foreground color.

8) While still on the alpha layer do a Select All and then press delete which will leave you with a completely black alpha layer.

9) Turn on the RGB layers again and turn off the alpha layer.

10) Use a selection tool to select your new logo.

11) Turn off the RGB layers and turn on the alpha layer. Your selection will remain intact but you will be selecting a portion of the alpha layer.

12) Press Alt+Backspace to fill the selection with the foreground color.

Finished product should look like this with all of the layers turned on.

13) Save your new logo as DDS DXT5, no MIP maps, and with the same file name. Example: brandlogo_WCW.dds

14) Open Texture Archive 1B59.zlib.uncompressed.

15) Inject your new logo in place of the old logo. Example: brandlogo_WCW.dds.

16) Rename 1B59.zlib.uncompressed to 1B59.zlib.

17) Open Pach UMTX.pac and inject 1B59.zlib.

18) Open MnLayHD.pac using "Open pac containing directories".

19) Inject UMTX.pac.

20) Update Arc Non Wrestler and browse to your plist360.arc.

21) Move MnLayHD.pac and plist360.arc back to your Xbox.

Great, thanks!

As a kind of linked aside, does anyone happen to know which string.pac entries correspond to the brand names? It's just save me trawling through several thousand entries to find them myself!

Thanks in advance
