CM Punk suing WWE over 2K15

My two pence/cents.

CM Punk while under contract to WWE permits them to use his name and likeness on merchandise/video games. He is compensated for this through royalties paid at a percentage shared between him and the company. The fact he had a contract with WWE at the time the game was being made, meant he was included. This was the right of WWE and 2K to do so. He would then have been paid royalties for his appearance.

The way he left the company while not ideal, will not allow WWE to use his name and likeness without compensating him. While he was under contract I suspect they were able to withhold payment due to him being in breach. Now that he is not a part of WWE and under no contract to them, WWE must pay him for using him in the game.

The argument saying otherwise is silly.

 

Exactly this. Punks legal counsel have clearly advised him that there is a case there, and if it doesn't end up falling through, Punk will receive his royalty fees, it's as simple as that. 

 

What I tried to get across in my post, was that in absolutely no way will the game be effected by any of this, which completely nulls this entire thread, as it's basically an 'omg, the game is getting delayed because of CM Punk' thread. which is completely stupid.

I know I'll get moaned at for this... But none of us know his exact contract agreements, we don't know what he's entitled to and what he's not entitled to.

Idk about that doing a little research Judders pretty much hit the nail on the head. Chill it's a forum we're just having a discussion and nobody's been rude. Just a couple of good points and bad points being thrown around.
