Impaler
That is awfully strange. I tried multiple times all this procedure and still I get frozen just after I select the wrestlers I'm going to play with. By this time I believe I know my way around injecting textures. Versus screen never loads. I did exactly as @Red Rooster has told and nothing. I even tried inject & compress instead of just inject. Thinking that images are somehow bad which I import (though they are extracted from other games) I tried extracting DDS from the same pac and for example gave WM 28 image for NXT slot. Still the same - frozen. I assume images are not the problem. I did the hex thing fix. Nothing. I tried generating the arcs with PAC Editor instead of X-Packer when updating arcs from the main pac. Still frozen. Though what's strange also is that when PAC Editor has rebuilt the arc files they show no error and the value at MB72 is not even 2017 or 2487. It yet another combo of numbers. I'm starting to assume there's something else which is only PS3 related here going on. Or perhaps there is something so obvious I continue to overlook. Let's go back to the basics. Am I correct by modifying the MatchHD.pac file on GAMES folder (since arenas are also modded on GAMES folder)? OR should this particular mod be copied to GAME folder? After I'm done modifying MatchHD.pac file I renamed it to M1atchHD.pac and updated its name in def file (4x3 def files does not have MatchHD.pac entry at all). @kim666 @N'Jadaka @stlpowercat @Mathayus @Andy Edited April 12, 2018 by Impaler
Red Rooster
Pac Editor doesnt update the arc correctly for non-wrestler pacs so dont use it. Xpacker is the only one that does that correctly. I have a feeling theres a way to mod on the ps3 without using the arc at all but I couldnt tell you the details, Ive never had a ps3
Impaler
Alright. PAC Editor will not be used again for arc related tasks. Yes, I'm familiar with UndertakerWLF's modded eboot thing, but as far as I understood it may introduce crashes and limit how many mods can be installed. Another thing I understood that it causes some trouble with DLCs. So I believe that method is a no-go. Unless I get more clarification on how that works. You mean you got to change these pictures and you did not touch MatchHD.pac at all? Only LoadHD? Can you be more specific in which file in LoadHD did you find those images? Red Rooster
Just now, Impaler said: You mean you got to change these pictures and you did not touch MatchHD.pac at all? Only LoadHD? No he means the same method of injecting works for textures in the LoadHD.pac as well
N'Jadaka
It seems as if its a arc issue. If the game loads fully but freezes during the selection screen its usually an issue with the arc. I dont have a solution as I havent gotten to trying to replace arena thumbnails. If I was tinkering around I'd check a few things, I would try the file in the game & games folder in different combinations. I'd double check the arc to make sure I'm doing that right and also try putting the modded arc in the Games folder. I'd also check the wrestlers I'm selecting and make sure its not a issue with the arc entries with the wrestlers. Also the ps3 menus have been a pain in the @$$ when it comes to menu modding, there is a guy out there on the smacktalks discus app named Hassan1999. He has sucessfully modded ps3 2k14 menu screens. He was pretty tight lipped about how he accomplished such but he said the format is the same as the last gen menus. He may be a resource too. Impaler
I tried modding a versus screen this time and I did nothing with arena images. Since its the same MatchHD.pac file I get the same trouble as if I was replacing arena images. This is clearly something going on with the arc or X-Packer or both. Will do more testing. Impaler
@The HSN oh I can see that! Can you shed some light on your experience modding the MatchHD.pac file. Because X-Packer keeps giving me an error while updating MB72.pac file. And manual editing of it does not seem to fix it right. What tools did you use to modify MatchHD.pac file and was there something you done that can be considered out of the ordinary?
Impaler
Well fellas, guess what happened today... I DID IT! The problem was simple one as I suspected. But it took a lot of time and some luck to sort out. All that was wrong with the process is that I opened in X-Packer the MatchHD.pac file with command - X360 / PS3 Pac where instead I should have opened up using X360 / PS3 New Pac format / Pac containing directories. Though file opens nice in both options. The later one gives no errors when updating arcs. OH YEAH!
