supa! Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 ALWAYS clear naughty pictures of your phone/laptop before handing it in for a service. People DO look. Websites are also ridiculously overpriced vs time spent building them. Quote
The Don Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Always show initiative. If there's nothing at a job to do, sweep... Or at least master the art of looking busy. You'll look better to management and the customers. Not to mention your day will go by quicker. Quote
Aero Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Don't keep taking on extra work without getting some sort of additional gain from it. otherwise you'll be over worked, under paid and wont actually be appreciated. it doesnt always have to be financial gain, and i'm not suggesting you constantly be a dick about any extra work you do, just don't roll over and agree to do everything all the time. Spyder78 Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Going above and beyond for any job is not worth it and you end up looking like an idiot for your efforts in the end. Sorry forgot I have to elaborate for some Quote

Even poorly type it makes sense that I was clearly agreeing with Aero even as badly typed as it is. It's not in the board rules that posts have to be typed correctly and words spelled right, shit happens oh well Quote
Aero Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Made perfect sense to me... I'd maybe have put an apostrophe in after the first word, but it still made sense. Quote
BrokenDreams23 Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) Always be prepared to join the "inner circle" or risk being demoted or even fired..........at least at Walmart, it pays to kiss up to the departmental manager, who then kisses up to the main manager. Neither of whom I kissed up to & now as a result, I've been "red flagged" to never be hired there again. Edited August 31, 2014 by BrokenDreams23 Quote
fufu ÷ Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 office work sucks if it's a quiet office. being a social media networker is about as unsociable a job as there is. Quote

Muur Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 You don't get paid for the first week and maybe more for others. Quote
jitz Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 What? No the rule is never work for free, if you don't value your time, who will? I won't work for half an hour if I'm not being paid for it. The only reason to not get paid is because you've signed up for an internship. And the only you would do one of those is for a major company you really want to work for, or a job in the media. Don't let business owners scam you and take advantage of you. Quote
supa! Posted September 6, 2014 Author Posted September 6, 2014 Be VERYYYYYYYYYYY careful about combining personal and business life - this could be dating a coworker, vouching for a mate to get a job or even having a personal friend as a client. Things tends to go sour extremely quickly.... Quote

Though you get that payment when you leave. Quote
