Ronan wasn't as good of a villain as i hoped and some of the characters didn't have as much depth as others but can easily be fixed in the sequel. Also Batista wasn't right for the role of Drax. delete Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I've heard that it's one of Marvel's best films ever, I'm watching it with some friends next week. I'm really looking forward to it, as a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan I always watch every film they release. I was always gonna watch it, but probably when it came out on torrent sites. But when it came out all the reviews said it was great, rated better than most of the Avengers films. Really looking forward to it. Also, I'd like to check this thread to see everyone's opinions on it. But can you please keep spoilers in spoiler tags? Quote

huh Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 (edited) Batista was great as Drax, don't let your wrestling opinions sway you. I'd give it a 9/10, definitely Top 3 Superhero film of the year with Winter Soldier & Days of Future Past. Prob Top 3 of the MCU too (w/ Winter Soldier & The Avengers). Visuals, humor, soundtrack, plot, all great! Kinda shitty we have to wait 3 years for the sequel but I understand why, with all of the stuff that the MCU has lined up until then. I thought Ronan was a bit weak at first too, until he got the infinity stone and went all purple crazy Drax & Rocket surprised me the most at how funny and badass they were. Also Thanos looked epic! EDIT: Also I thought that they did good with giving the characters depth and backstories, and it's the first film so you have to assume they'd go even more in depth for the sequel. Phase 2 has had 2 great films this year with Winter Solider and Now Guardians of the Galaxy. Can't wait to see how everything comes together for Age of Ultron and Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Quote

This summed it up the best, though. Lol Definitely one of my top 3 MCU movies of all time. With Iron Man and The Avengers still being my two favorites. But the more I watch Guardians (I've seen it three times now. Haha) the more I might consider it my favorite. I just love the vibe through the entire movie. Incredible job by James Gunn for taking a comic I knew nothing about and making an incredible movie out of it. Quote
