Well no of course not but that's not a worry for me since our defence and midfield have been improved greatly (which makes the LVG Out and LVG is ruining Man United comments look so silly) but if we were to get two strikers I wouldn't be so worried, you'd could tell Hernandez's heart wasn't in it anymore for United so perhaps it was for the best he left and hopefully Adnan's departure leads to some more game time for Andres Pereira

I wouldn't say he's ruining you, just you won't find another Ferguson anytime soon and that's what's gonna be hard for this generation of Utd fans to accept, just as it was for ours with Shanks/Dalglish (first spell).  Rate him or not he's only gonna be there for another season after this one tops...then it'll be someone elses turn to live in the shadow of ol' purplenose for a while.

The game has changed a lot from the 80's/90's and not for the better either...we may be the most competitive league in Europe but I'd rather see local lads playing for their teams with PASSION any day of the week.  Even though I'm as far detached from a Utd fan as you can get I had the utmost respect for the youth Fergie brought through for you guys, Utd fans blaming him for your demise are beyond help.

Anyway...who do ya reckon is gonna be signing of the season?

For me the signing of the season will be either Ayew or Darmian

Knowing he's supposed to be in Madrid, his heart won't be in it. Be wiser sticking with Romero. You's need to let him go in January to get any money at all for him... And if he plays in the CL that value will be even less.

We'll see, now there's 5 months until the January window maybe he'll change his mind....or maybe he'll grow to hate United you never know!

I'm guessing the latter. Van gaal seems to generally hate all keepers as it is lol

I think the Valdes relationship is back on track though!

Cannot believe how disappointing this deadline day has been lol. Even though I'm a Chelsea fan, I was hoping that Wenger had something up his sleeve and was gonna sign Cavani or someone... But nope, ridiculous. I remember reading an article that said he had permission from the board to buy anyone he wants (Excluding Messi I think), Arsenal really need a world class forward that can score goals for them and Welbeck and Giroud can't do that.

Hate to sound like one of 'those' fans, but Manchester City's transfers have been ridiculous. Yeah they're some great players (Especially Otamendi and de Bruyne... I don't rate Sterling yet), but it's just too much money man.

An initial £36M rising to £58.7M...for a 19 year old with 15 goals in 74 games!  Officially the most baffling transfer EVER.

I follow most European leagues (and MLS lol) closely too thanks to a bit of a gambling habit and can honestly say Martial* has never once featured on a betslip of mine...pure madness.

*Now watch the little cunt score a hat-trick against us on his debut!

It does remind you of the Rooney transfer doesn't it?

In terms of price...yeah.  But everything else not in the slightest, I remember seeing him play a few times last year and aside from being pretty rapid he was absolutely nothing special, kinda reminds me of Wellbeck tbh.  Rooneys rep/potential was pretty well known locally long before he signed for you...bit like Okera Simmonds for us atm.  19 is barely even classed as a developmental age these days, which in itself is just crazy.  I actually feel sorry for the kid having that price tag around his neck.

no?

Well at the time RooRoo scored 15 goals for Everton, and we paid 26 million for him? and now Martial has scored 15 goals overall and we've paid 36 million for him

Posted

you're right, he's scored 15 goals so the exact same thing is going to happen

That's just stats...break it down a bit - Rooney had done all that in less appearances, at a younger age, in a superior league for a (then) inferior team.

I do think you'll have an absolute worldy on your hands in Depay though, if van Gaal doesn't completely alienate him before he leaves...he was the one player I really wanted/hoped we'd sign when it became clear Sterling was leaving.  Very happy with Firmino though, he suits our high pressing style superbly and is my (admittedly rose tinted) tip to be the signing of the season, along with Cabaye...still can't believe no-one more established came in for him, great player.

Oh of course I'm not saying he's going to do a Rooney form wise, it's just the situation of the transfer reminds me so much of the Rooney transfer

Wasn't Cabaye injury prone at PSG?

So far as I'm aware he missed only 9 games last season (24 in his career), if you compare that to someone like Schweinsteiger 22 games last season alone (77 in total), he looks like steel.  Plus he's only 29 and already been tried and tested over here, really surprised Arsenal didn't swoop for him tbh.

Well Arsenal aren't exactly transfer geniuses now are they

Back in the day Wenger was so canny with his transfers it was untrue...almost everyone he signed seem to turn to gold, it's almost like he's scared to spend money now in case he (still) fails.

Still 17 consecutive years in the Champions league...he must be doing something at least moderately right :lol

He's still the specialist in failure
