DrJoeyMagnum Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 How's that festive period confidence going Joey? Not hitting the hits you predicted. Unbeaten chief still unbeaten Quote
fufu ÷ Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 we where winning until you posted this fufu... its your fault! #blameborini Quote
DrJoeyMagnum Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 So it seems Steven Gerrard's time with Liverpool will end at the end of the season probably the greatest player not to win the league Quote
Aero Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Well said joey, most united fans would just laugh and call him shite... Just gutted we didn't win the league last season now for his sake Quote
Johmeister Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I am a huge soccer/football fan, especially BPL. Man United is my team. Sad news about Gerrard, sad to see him move on to the United States. Will always remember the slip though. Quote
DrJoeyMagnum Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Man United are set to sign Victor Valdes Quote
fufu ÷ Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 If that's true then I can't believe he's given up on his career already. Unless United are about the let De Gea leave for Madrid, that is. Quote
DrJoeyMagnum Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 If that's true then I can't believe he's given up on his career already. Unless United are about the let De Gea leave for Madrid, that is. Casillas is only 33 so i don't see him leaving anytime soon, from what I understand Valdes and Van Gaal have a good relationship (VG gave him his Barca debut i think) so maybe Valdes understands he'll have a reduced role in the squad Quote
fufu ÷ Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 He's not a brilliant keeper but he's still good enough to play for most teams. Doesn't matter how sentimental he is, he's just a mercenary looking for the biggest pay cheque by signing with United at the moment. And Casillas is shit and everyone at Madrid knows it. Quote
DrJoeyMagnum Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I'd doubt he'd be able to command a large wage Quote
fufu ÷ Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 He will. He's a 6 time La Liga winner and 2(?) time Champions League winner and of a decent age for a keeper. He'd be looking 100k to 150k a week. Quote
DrJoeyMagnum Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Not when you're going to be second choice to a younger, better keeper Quote
fufu ÷ Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Which is why he must have been paid more to be second choice there than first choice elsewhere. He could go to nearly any team in Europe and walk in as number one, which obviously says he's been paid more to go there and sit on the bench. Also the fact that United are exempt from FFP means they don't have to be stingy. Quote

fufu ÷ Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Pretty much yeah. It's to do with sponsors paying for transfers and what have you. It's why you managed to spend 200m in the summer without balancing it with outgoing deals and can afford obscene wages despite the debt. Also has to do with trophies won and things like that that have given prize money in the past. It essentially means the already successful can use more money than anyone else. Even City and Chelsea can't do that, despite having the money available. Quote
DrJoeyMagnum Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Well United have posted large profits over the years Quote
fufu ÷ Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 It's profits on top of huge debts though. It's not like Arsenal who actually make money, after paying off debts. United realistically earn nothing but have a loophole. Quote
Aero Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 "Over the years" is now irrelevant. Season expenditure vs season profits is where it's at. As such fufu is right, Nike footing some of the bills is helping united on the ffp rule. I'd say he's also right about Valdez, but I'd imagine there's a bitterness in there as he'd be a better first choice at Liverpool. I know that's how I feel Finally I'll add this, real Madrid pride themselves on having the first choice Spain keeper... Thats pretty much going to de gea if it hasn't already... United will cash in there though Quote
fufu ÷ Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I'm disappointed about Valdes, but I am holding out hope that January might bring us something nice between the posts. If we get to february and still have Mignolet as first choice, THEN i'll be bitter. Quote
DrJoeyMagnum Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 "Stoke are in for Shaqiri" = me laughing so hard I nearly pooed myself Quote
Aero Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 shaqiri is another midfielder, we're currently playing Can in defense, we need another defender if thats the case, and we need another striker... and a goal keeper... shaqiri is bottom of my list. Quote
fufu ÷ Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 For the 10m he's being quoted at i'd still take him. He'd be worth double that if he actually had a run of games as he's a genuine quality player. Quote
fufu ÷ Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 He played up front and just off the striker for Basel a few times as well. Quote
