delete Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTUXLTpdwjY I need some help, I didn't really know how to explain it in words so I recorded it. When I try and install uTorrent it just opens instead of giving me installation settings, so I think that it hasn't properly installed. And then I can't delete the file afterwards. Can anyone give me any help? Basically I need help on how to get the installation settings up. Thanks in advance Quote
Tamer™ Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I'd try uninstalling it then install it again. Quote
delete Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 You got a firewall on? disable it & try again. How do I do that? Haha I have no idea how to cheat lol, I'm a fucking retard online sometimes. I'd try uninstalling it then install it again. I've done that like 10 or 15 times, not doing anything lol. Quote
delete Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 I think I just turned my firewalls off for both home and private networks Raff, I tried installing it again but the same thing happened again. Quote
delete Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 I just did that, we posted at the same time haha. Any other suggestions? Quote

Because you can torrent things that aren't movies, TV shows, games etc. I could write a poem, save it and then upload it as a torrent. If it isn't copyrighted and you have permission to upload it, then it's perfectly legal. Exactly the same as Mediafire or Mega or any filesharing website. Quote
Fozy Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 He's gonna be using it illegally though, so whatever. Quote
UndertakerWLF Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Firstly for your install prefs just go to 'Options' and then 'Preferences' 2ndly you cant delete an application if it still running , right click utorrent in the system tray and press exit. And lastly do not switch off your firewall....you'd be an idiot to do so, just forward your ports. through your router to allow utorrent traffic. Quote

Smacktalks Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 uTorrent can be run as a standalone .exe without the need to install it, but there should be another version available that you can download with an installer if you prefer that. Quote
delete Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Thanks for the replies guys uTorrent/torrenting isn't actually illegal Really? how? What fufu said, also I think it's legal to download movies and etc as long as you have a copy. So just to back it up, just like backup games. He's gonna be using it illegally though, so whatever. Come on man, who uses uTorrent for legal purposes uTorrent can be run as a standalone .exe without the need to install it, but there should be another version available that you can download with an installer if you prefer that. That probably sounds like what I'm looking for, where can I find the version that you need to download with an installer? I've been downloading the .exe from the main website for years and it always comes with the installer, but suddenly when I tried yesterday it doesn't Quote
fufu ÷ Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I actually did use it for legal purposes. Once. 1 Quote
delete Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 I actually did use it for legal purposes. Once. I think the only time I legally downloaded something is when I accidently ticked "Check out this free download" when I was installing uTorrent a while back Also: uTorrent can be run as a standalone .exe without the need to install it, but there should be another version available that you can download with an installer if you prefer that. Smacktalks Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 There's only one version on the main page at the moment, but if that doesn't come with the installer you can download one of the beta or latest stable builds from them and see if that includes a proper installer.http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/winIf it doesn't come with an installer, just create a folder in your Start Menu and move the standalone .exe file to that folder. Then you can launch it from the Start Menu or create a shortcut to it on your Desktop, etc. just as if it was installed. Quote
delete Posted July 23, 2014 Author Posted July 23, 2014 Thanks for the replies guys, I tried downloading a beta version but it still didn't have a proper installer. I've just put the file into my "Program Files (x86)" and I've pinned it to my taskbar. Thanks for all the help This can be closed now. Quote
