"Not a massive leap forward graphics wise" Xbox 360/PS3

People in this topic are SUPER spoiled. Yes, the game looks better on the next gen systems.. that should have been assumed from the moment it was announced for both next gen and previous gen systems.

No one is arguing that the picture on the right doesn't look better. The problem is that the picture on the left is also pretty sweet. Go back and play Steel Cage Challenge on the NES.. or any of the (admittedly decent) SNES WWF games.. then tell me about the terrible graphics in the picture on the left.

Comparing the 360/PS3 versions to the Nintendo games is apples and oranges though. They're decades apart. By today's standards and knowing what modern systems are capable of, WWE games are below average graphically. When the gameplay and visuals are fundamentally the same year after year, somethings gotta give and people want to see the series progress. Thankfully, this should be the year and it's been long overdue in my opinion.

People tend to get overly dramatic when it comes to the current gen vs. next gen graphics issue.  To me, I didn't see that much of a difference last time we went from PS2 to PS3 and I'm guessing there won't be much of a graphical leap between PS3 to PS4.  Same applies to 360 owners going to XB1, there won't be a big difference.  2K16 might be a different story though, as 2K has more time to implement more wide scale changes to everything......

 

We're talking about 2K.  Not lazy THQ who just ported the PS2 version over to Xbox 360 & PS3 and shined up the character models.  I remember Bryan Williams saying in a SvR 2008 interview that they wanted to make the game the same on PS2, PSP, PS3, 360, and Wii.  Then in an interview about WWE '12. they said that laziness resulted in the game being glitchy with old, very old coding in the game dating all the way back to PS1.  

 

I can promise you there's going to be a huge difference graphically, and with the new engine, the gameplay is also likely to be better improved on next gen.  2K is going to take advantage of the next gen consoles.  The changes won't come in 2K16, the changes are coming in 2K15.  Do you think they skipped out on next gen WWE 2K14 for no reason?  The next gen version has probably been in development since last March.  WWE 2K14 was a Yukes project and I doubt Visual Concepts even touched the game.  All Yukes did was finish up what they and THQ had planned and already worked on.  During this time Visual Concepts was more than likely working on 2K15.  You're likely to see just as much as a difference as that Ray Allen picture in WWE 2K15.

After seeing this I've definitely made my choice and I've decided to go to the PS4.

After seeing that I can't wait to see what 2K15 looks like, hopefully they use the same graphics engine

Custom tracks are NOT that serious for me. Especially not serious enough to keep me on current gen.  

I use the game for vids, and I can easily add my themes in with my editing software.

I know alot of people that don't even use entrances.  I think some people are really trying to downplay the differences between consoles.  All I gotta say is when you see that joint on PS4 in 1080p True HD. Yeah. LOL

As far as game differences themselves, we really don't know at this point.  Can't wait to see tho.

There's a lot of people talking custom soundtracks.  I think 2K might find a way around it if MP3 isn't already implemented in PS4 before the game comes out.  But yea, I'm not tripping over custom soundtracks.  That's the least I could care about with these games.  The gameplay sucks, the graphics suck, the commentary sucks,  the game modes suck.  That's the stuff I'm excited to see change in next gen.

can't argue with that, i've played 2k14 on an hd 1080p television for the first time (yesterday) and i must say if that's what it looks like on 360 then the look on ps4 would probably be off the wall! i just couldn't deal without custom tracks cause i deal with superstars of today and yesteryear

i really wouldn't go that far as to saying everything sucks, the gameplay is good, it's just the execution, same with the ai and commentary. I like the game modes, universe was fine up till wwe13 came out (which by coincidence is when aubrey was community manager) I'm tripping over custom tracks cause i deal with alot of past year caws like sting luger hollywood hogan etc .. if it wasn't for custom soundtracks, bray wyatt caws would what use the undertaker's theme? same goes for evolution.. they had evolution in wwe13 then removed it for 2k14.. which made absolutely no sense.. not saying custom tracks makes a game but it does help bridge the gap between realism and presentation

Havnt read half of this topic.I don't see the debate. Why would the put effort into trying to polish the old gen? They'll now make it as quickly and cheaply as they can and put the focus in to the more powerful machine.

That being said, it, if the transition to ps2, and it turn the ps3 is anything to go by then the first ps4 one might not be too awesome other than a graphical upgrade.

Lol 2K can defintly make the PS3/Xbox 360 version a lot better... I mean look at GTA V! That was a beautiful game! What about Far Cry 3?? 2K can and should make the game more beautiful for both last gen and current gen! Anybody agree??

2K didn't want to release WWE 2K14. They took over the series with the thoughts of 2K15 being their first WWE game. It was only WWE's pleading and taking a smaller cut of the profits that convinced 2K to release 2K14. It wasn't their game, and I'm expecting big things from 2K15. If the comparison pic in this thread is anything to go by, it's going to look amazing.

I don't think you guys understand.  I believe they're using NBA's engine for next gen.  A new engine means a lot gameplay wise.  It will change how the wrestlers move, how fluid moves combine together for good transitions, wrestlers emotions, reactions.  Moves will probably land differently every time.  They'll feel like they have weight.  Clothing and such will move like real clothes.   I really doubt it's just a graphical thing.  Not only a new engine, I believe they're over-hauling gameplay completely.  Yet I'd be surprised if they even touched last gen.  But I think you guys will see when we get some footage.

I know how game engines work, and your right on the things you said. I just hope they focus more on gameplay than ever.

I was thinking the same thing coming from PS3 to PS4, then I realized..2 free games a month, way better servers, for just $4 a month(if you buy a year)?  That's less than the price of a new game.  I really have no complaints.  Xbox 360 players have been paying since 2005.  We were just lucky, it had to come sooner or later.  Not to mention it truly is an option, you don't NEED PS Plus to play 2K15, I think that game will be so fun offline that you won't even be worried about online for a while.

since i can get games half off i'ma get it for both 360 & X1 so im basically getting both copies for the price of 1. have the 360 one for mods with save editors cause i know that they will be some coming out month or 2 after its release on 360 and keep the X1 for normal play

The Playstation Plus service released as a subscription to get more games and stuff if someone wanted.  Sony brags about the free-to-play online yet at the E3 announcing PS4, those little weasels use nice wording to hide this new detail-the service is required for online. Dumb that a company seriously charges you to use their service after paying money for everything else; 2 free games is just a crooked way to get people to accept the new system without complaints. The 2 games aren't games I might personally want to have.  Simple cover-up because a company is greedy. In a few years, I'll probably have to renew the game I buy to keep it active.

i'm glad the only thing i use online for is community creations, meaning i only need a month to use online.. but it sucks that they do that and you're right, the games they put out on ps3 and 360 aren't all that great lol
