Blackbird 13 Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Alright.. so, it's widely known that the NPCs in the WWE games tend to have full movesets and the ability to be used as actual wrestlers in game. It's also known that they can be hacked and unlocked with various methods online. So.. a few things. 1. Don't make these characters unusable. There is absolutely NO benefit to making a functioning character hidden and unusable. I can understand if there was some issue that made it so you couldn't use Roddy Piper's likeness as a character.. but the fact remains that there were well over ten characters in WWE2K14 who work just fine as characters, but were completely "NPC" and unusable (This includes Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole, Justin Roberts, Howard Finkel, Cameron, Naomi, and all of the managers). There's no reason for arbitrarily hiding characters that could add to the number of people we have available to use in the game (especially when it's people like Lawler, Cameron, Naomi, and Mr. Perfect who are actual wrestlers). 2. We need uses for these characters. The first thing we need is more spots to use these characters in Universe mode. There needs to be a way to assign managers to wrestlers, and have them be involved in storylines (Paul Heyman has feuded with people more than Brock Lesnar has since his return, for example). The manager system could use an upgrade, as well. Also, give us the ability to assign a GM to our "brand"!!!! This allows us to create other companies (WCW, ECW, etc.) and add the appropriate GMs (Bischoff, Heyman)... and also allows us to follow current WWE programming and change the GM on each show, as they often do in real life. 3. This is wishful thinking, but if you DO end up adding some sort of WCW storyline.. it would add an air of authenticity to hire some combination of Tony Schiavone, Larry Zbyszko, Eric Bischoff, Steve McMichael, and Scott Hudson to do a commentary track. Likewise, if you include ECW at all, an option to add commentary from Joey Styles and Joel Gertner would be amazing. If adding commentary tracks from those people might be too expensive, I would suggest that allowing us to at least pick from two different teams would be a huge improvement over having the same announcers on every show or brand in Universe mode. 4. "Behind the referee's back" needs to be a thing. The referee needs to be able to be knocked down and out... and this should be when other wrestlers come out to interfere.. or when the manager/second gets involved in the match. A second ref could come out to replace the first (or the first could just get up)... and if ANYONE gets physically involved in the match while the referee is up and looking, that should be an automatic disqualification. The same rules apply for weapons. 4 1/2. I'd also be all for assigning referees in the same way that I propose you assign GMs, I get that WWE has been very stingy about giving referees any credit (or royalties) at all... and it would also require an upgrade of the CAW slots to be more than 100 (as it's very easy to fill 100 with wrestlers/managers). 5. Gender restrictions are ridiculous. If I purchase the game, and choose to only have women fight women, that's what I'll do. Likewise, if I want to go on a tear with Paige and win the World Title, that should also be an option... but the consumer should be allowed the freedom to make that choice. The WWE maintains that there are no women vs. men matches, hence there is no reason for women vs. men in the game. The Royal Rumble says otherwise, though, as does Chyna's Intercontinental Title reign. Arbitrary restrictions (those that do not help the game experience, only hurt it) are a HUGE slap in the face to the people who support both the WWE, and WWE Games. We expected that sort of thing from THQ, hopefully 2K won't adopt the same strategy. 6. This one isn't so much about the NPC and "rules" of the game.. but in Universe mode, we should be allowed to assign the titles we deem appropriate for a brand. A Main, Secondary, Tag, and Tertiary title. If I want to bring back the European title instead of a Divas title.. it shouldn't take some independently made computer program to make that happen, it should be available to me in game. Obviously, it can be done.. so make it where I can do it in the game. 7. DLC. The DLC program should be widely expanded. Why not include characters from past games? Pay them a percentage based on the sales of the characters. When I look under DLC for WWE2K15.. it should resemble Rock Band, where I can pick and choose what I want to add to my game.. not just be "here's three packages over the course of six months". Tying into this whole discussion.. make more than just wrestlers be DLC. Give us new rings (WCW, ECW, Attitude era... even AWA rings).... give us those commentary teams mentioned above (I know I'd drop a few bucks to get authentic commentary teams for my WCW and ECW brands).. give us theme songs... give us new storylines for Universe mode... add in characters to use as managers and GMs, like Teddy Long, Jim Ross, Sonny Oono..... make the DLC an EXPERIENCE, and not just the leftover stuff you didn't want to stick on the disc. With those seven things (and not removing what's currently in game), I feel like the entire WWE game experience would grow by leaps and bounds. Any other suggestions or comments on the "out of ring" characters, and the improvements that need to be made? Quote
the King Lives Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 sorry but no, we went this route in svr2011 and wwe12.. I don't want those people in my game ever I don't want them ruining my universe Quote

I don't want those people in my game ever I don't want them ruining my universe I'm assuming you didn't read much of what I posted, and this is a knee jerk reaction to the title of the post. The beauty of Universe mode is that you can make people inactive in it. I personally hate having two or three different models for the same guy.. but I deal with it by making one of them inactive, and one of them active. Granted, the "Inactive" portion of Universe mode was glitched one year, but fixing the glitches would obviously be priority one for 2K, I'd imagine. Quote

I've had aj lee, natalya andvince McMahon all running in cutscenes in my wcw universes yet they are set to inactive with no rivals/allies. I did read your entire post but like I said I don't want managers to be showing up in cutscenes. From your perspective I understand what you want, but who in their right mind would want to play with jim ross Michael cole or jerry lawler ever again? I say make them superstar heads and just leave it at that Quote
iamthedoctor Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Making Hurricane NPC wasent the best idea. Quote
the King Lives Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Making Hurricane NPC wasent the best idea. well, no I meant as far as people like Jim Ross, Lawler, Joey Styles etc who have hardly or never wrestled shouldn't be Playable. People like Hurricane should be. That was stupid but I guess that was part of the deal or whatever. Quote

I understand Ross shouldnt be in & why on earth he had to be DLC just because of Cole at wrestlemania was just abysmal. Quote

AgeofSandow Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I hear WWE prevents the team from doing certain things, like the women vs men and NPC Quote

Blackbird 13 Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 I want as many different playable characters as possible. Current roster, Legends, NXT guys, CAW slots, and manager/GM/announcers. MORE choices, not less. As long as the "Inactive" slot in Universe mode works, this wouldn't be an issue. (I have yet to have anyone from the "Inactive" list interfere in my Universe mode, by the way). Oh, and anyone who thinks Jerry Lawler shouldn't be a playable character needs a wrestling history lesson. Quote

Its always funny when people misquote the actual game they mean. 2008 had Austin, Rock, Bret & a few others. It was 2009 that didnt have them. Quote

GoatFace Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Love this idea. Should be a pretty easy thing to pull off no? Just have everybody record the same lines Quote
iamthedoctor Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Even on HCTP they recorded the same lines in storymode. Quote
