Okay so thanks to the comment Iamthedoctor made about wwe games being considered fighting games back on genesis, I had to make this thread.  Remember in wwf raw on snes where if you hit the ref I think like 3 or 4 times, he would walk out the match, and then it'd be basically a no holds barred unsanctioned match? I know that LJN made that game, but I definitely wouldn't mind something like that happening whereas maybe 15 minutes or so (game time not real time) the Game would have another ref run in to replace said referee that walked out of the match.  What do you think? Also I think that the ref needs to be changed.  This "Ref doesn't like to be bossed around and reverses a superstar's every move" is kind of a bunch of BS.  How many times has orton or triple h gotten pissed off and pedigree'd or RKO'd the ref because of a slow count or a near fall? A MILLION! How many times has a referee reversed a superstar's bullyness? NONE! I also think that during an undertaker match, the referee should get in between undertaker and his corner strikes and the undertaker should do his "intimidate the ref" thing like he always does at mania when the match starts.  These are just suggestions/concerns, be sure to list yours :)

You must not watch indy wrestling because Rick Knox (PWG's senior referee) will attack a wrestler if they try something on him. :p

But yeah, I'd like it so where you can attack the ref with a finisher and such.

no I haven't watched indy wrestling in a very long time lol.  But I just feel it should be diverse, and if the ref does get knocked out, he should stay down longer than 2 seconds.  For example: In the cutscene where the ref gets knocked out in universe mode, after the match starts, the ref stays down for a good amount of time (maybe 10-15 seconds) but if an inadvertent KO to the ref happens he's up in 2 seconds.  I just feel some things need to be changed.  I could see a special ref not taking any crap but Nick Flipping Patrick or Charles Robinson? Come On! lol I mean nick Patrick quit the nWo to keep from being beat up LOL

That wouldnt work with WWE. At times I just wanted to see a referee punch a heels lighhts out when they refused to break a hold.

I'd like to see Earl Hebner as an unlockable ref, but probably won't since he's in TNA. He lets rules slide usually and can screwjob. However, a normal ref should

1) do 5 counts on holds on ropes(addition to game; I've seen this in some older ones)

2) hold back someone for doing too many 5 count moves at once

3) kick out a manager automatically if he thinks the manager did something

4) sometimes get in the way of an attack, leading to a QTE where either side hits a big move or finish; leads to ref run-in eventually.

5)be prone to a finisher and stay down a long time when hit with one

6) initiate 10 counts when both sides down, in matches where it can apply(would require a new "getting up" animation; instead of propping back up, someone has to crawl to their feet)

7) raise someone's arm to see if they pass out from submission(MUST HAVE A NEW SUB SYSTEM! Has to be a constant struggle that can last more than button mashing can; also reversible.)

8)count someone's arm/foot on rope near 3 count, NOT at start of pin(QTE near 3 count when near ropes leads to animation; usable once a match, and can also be used with submissions unlimited times.)

Don't plan on seeing these all next year, but they're all improvements that should eventually come.

That is a novel idea!  Refs that attack, :D  Seriously though, I don't think a good many of gamers really care about the refs in a game.  As long as they are accurate in their counts, its all good.  But I would like to see more options for special ref matches in which you have advanced options on what to do.  IE using a superstar's finisher, doing a fast count, not counting, etc.  That would be cool especially if it did a cut scene type of format for which ever option you choose to perform.  Seeing a cut scene involving a finisher before it returned to normal gameplay would look epic in-game and then seeing it again in the post match replay would be fun to watch.

yeah great ideas and yeah I don't see them happening anytime soon...  I just thought that whole thing where nick would walk out on the match on wwf raw was so damn funny like "I don't give a f... screw this, i'm outta here!" LOL
