NWOldskool Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Challenge people to make thought provoking posts. That actually can spark a good debate. That's asking a lot for more than a handful of members. True, I guess. Quote
mrblacksheep Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 If people really want to ask you something let them PM you, if not there are worser things in life. I would like more insightful conversations also and a few immature people can easily be ignored when they start namecalling. But if we move the ask threads to the Intorduction section, what would be the point of an Intro section? Everybody new will just see the long list of ask thread and create one themselves probably making the issue worse. I would say leave it to those who start the ask theads to close them when they are sick of answering peoples questions. Although I do agree that the ask threads can be used to get post count up. Tamer™ Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 My ask thread's actually ok , its only 6 pages but it's got more genuine questions rather than stupid questions. Quote
delete Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 In my opinion, the Games Section should not boost your post count. Same with the possible new section for ask threads. This has been brought up so many times, nothing has or ever will happen. It's just annoying when people (I'm not mentioning any names) spam like 150-200 posts a day to raise their post count. Quote
Fozy Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 The Games Section will continue to add to your post count as long as I am the Head Moderator of Smacktalks.org. The reason being is people who actually care about their post count can get their spamming out there instead of other places on the forum and get in trouble for it. Some people just don't understand that.... Ha, you're an idiot if you believe what you say. How about actually enforcing rules against spamming to encourage better posts? No, no. Let them spam, that's how to run a forum. Quote

I don't want that to happen here so we let them do that there where they aren't hurting the main forums by bumping 3 year old topics and such. Yes, I have. You most likely came from there. Honestly, do whatever you, 'Head Moderator' deems appropriate, it's not like you do anything else. Quote

I agree, so many people with high post counts that have only been here for a year. I've been here for two and I haven't even eclipsed 2,000 posts yet. I still abide by saying that post count should not be increased in the Games Section. Also, Codes, Caws.ws has legitimate debates and some interesting topics. Something this place currently lacks, so it is not a fair comparison, in my opinion. Quote
fufu ÷ Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Most of the regularly active members here are pretty young, so they don't really have the knowledge or life experience to talk about a lot of the bigger topics past worn out cliches and the opinion that will draw the least scorn. That's kinda why a few of the other topics have bombed. You gotta cater to the community that you have. Also, Caws.ws lost all it's star power when I made my grand exit. Quote

Nate Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Honestly I do not care about my post count, I'm on mobile 80% of the time and can't see it without going to my profile anyway. I agree with what most are saying about ask threads but I made mine to introduce myself. I use the fun and games section for fun and games and the general chat section for general chat. I feel the ask threads have turned from general chat to more fun and games now so naturally I feel it belongs in that section. Or maybe a sub-section in introductions but fun and games seems more fitting. Leave general chat for actual discussions. 1 Quote
dads Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 People didn't leave caws because their posts in fun & games didn't count, people left for here because top caw creators were banned or started only posting here. Their general chat is still better now anyways. Quote

Nate Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 (edited) The general chat on Caws is better because the average age of the people that post there is much higher then here. I don't post much on Caws anymore because I prefer the community here more then I do there. It is all preference in my opinion. Edited May 6, 2014 by nate Quote

I'm completely down for a good debate but to be honest it gets annoying when the things they say in response is 'no' and 'i'm right because I like this wrestler' It is incredibly easy to tell these two kind of people apart. The Don Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 First of all, people still care about post counts? FUCK! I'M A n00b! Just because I don't like the Ask threads, doesn't mean I'm saying we can't have them.Iain and I may disagree on this but, shit happens when you party naked. I just want to see more discussions and even (intelligent) debates happen in this section which is near impossible with Ask threads bumping down actual topics. Honestly if it's possible, the games section shouldn't count towards someone's post count. But that might be asking too much. There's a clear divide between the people who want them to stick around and those of us who want the topics to go away and the best decision would be to just move them. That way the people still have their all important posts and we don't have to see them. On a side note, the ask threads just seem so unreal to me. Do you people go up to random strangers and say "Ask me questions! Something! Ask if I'm a rosebud or a lemon!" because that's what those posts seem like. Those threads could easily be done on Skype, PM, kik and whatever else the kids have nowadays. Quote
Tamer™ Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 To be honest it's as simple as not answering those idiotic , spam tactic questions such as : Why is _____ so awesome? Why so jelly? Could you fix me something to eat? Just say "no" and wait for those genuinely good questions. Quote
fufu ÷ Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Clique I said they got banned because they spammed in other parts of the forum. Fufu was banned for "spamming". Also, Fozy I don't do nearly as much as I used to because I finally got a job and a life outside of all this. I was banned because of a vendetta on the part of Ernez (I told him I was a martyr like Jesus, but better and it rustled his God fearing jimmies up, among other things). The spamming thing was a technicality they used to get rid of me, although using the word 'hella' a lot isn't actually spamming. Still though, there wasn't really much spam over there before I went.
