The Don Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 No, I'm not talking about this thread, a certain member or your burn out cousin who sits around and smokes pot all day watch Spongebob reruns. I was thinking more along the lines of bands, TV shows, and maybe even video game series. I think this could be an interesting topic and potentially turn people onto something new... albeit a bit late. I promise I'm not going to bring up the video games about a guy looking to avenge the death of his father while driving forklifts and looking for sailors... If I do I'll never shut up and go off on a tangent that will eventually devolve into creative combinations of words not fit for polite conversation. I'll start off with a band that I'm sure won't be everyone's thing but I really liked them. About a two years ago a few people and myself went way too far on a whim to see Pop Evil and Theory of a Deadman. Awesome concert by the way, it was only a day or two after MCA's death and Pop Evil covered "Fight For Your Right to Party" which I thankfully recorded. But the opening band was Stellar Revival, and I generally make a point not to give a fuck about opening acts. Beer > Opening Act. But I ended up getting sucked in and really liking them, by the time their set was up I went to the merch booth with money in hand to buy their album... Which wasn't out yet so I had to settle for a sticker. About a year went by with very little radio play, no promotion, no album, no nothing. Come to find out the band got tired of Capitol Records jerkin them around and apparently shelving their album so they just quit. I don't think they were gonna set the world on fire but between their set and the whopping four songs I've been able to find, they coulda carved out a nice little place in the market for themselves. What's something* that never really met it's potential for you? It could be something that never got off the ground, it could be something that had a lengthy run but kinda petered out halfway through and never live up to your expectations. *Besides wrestlers and promotions. That's something us wrestling fans love to talk about, which is fine. If you want to make a topic about wrestling not meeting their potential go right ahead. Quote

BrotchMrToast Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 The game "Star Wars: Jedi Knight Outcast". I used to play this game all day long with my friends, as it was really entertaining. Quote
Big Pete® Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Showdown Legends of wrestling, had the best roster for a wrestling game at the time, but the gameplay is absolutely shite.. could of been awesome, but IMO failed big time. Quote

fufu ÷ Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Star Wars: Masters Of Teras Kasi That game could have been awesome if it had better core gameplay. Maybe more along the lines of Virtua Fighter, and it would have been great, because the characters they chose, and the idea of the game was great. Quote
DrJoeyMagnum Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Walking Dead (TV Show of course) its shows pockets of brilliance (the carl/michonne ep being an example from last season) but most of the time it's just boring Quote
Fozy Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 TNA iMPACT the game. Had revolutionary graphics that no wrestling game has touched since. The gameplay was only so-so though. So wrong. The gameplay blew the WWE games out of the water. Quote

The gameplay blew the WWE games out of the water. Wasn't really a wrestling style of gameplay though, it was more arcade fighter style. It was good, but it wasn't the best. Quote
HarlotEffect Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 TNA iMPACT the game. Had revolutionary graphics that no wrestling game has touched since. The gameplay was only so-so though. If there were more moves to that game it would have been amazing. The animations are fantastic, the whole look of it is amazing. The springboards are the best. The way you pull off the moves are also great. If only Midway had animated the rest of the moves that they said were in the game. Quote

Fozy Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 The gameplay was fucking great, not stilted and shit like the WWE games. Codes, saying the game didn't look fluid? Go back and play it, it was fluid as shit. The reversals looked convincing and wasn't contrived, in fact when I first replied I was going to go more into detail and the first word that came to mind was the fluidity of the gameplay. With the lack of moves, everything worked so nicely. This was exactly what Smackdown! was like when it came out. So much promise with limited matches, moves, etc. Smackdown! 2 came out and it blew up the game, added a host of new moves, matches, CAW features, etc. If TNA got a second game, it would have been the better game, by far. In WWE 13 the eyelashes were 2D In WWE 12 we had 3D eyelashes. Graphics in WWE games are becoming dated, its like they're going backwards. Quote
