Thanks , I'm basicallly just playing around with the contrasts and the brightness then add curves and sharpen the edges and it's good to go.

When you're resizing, ALWAYS hold 'shift' so the image doesn't go out of proportion. You also need to give them a bit of head room between the top of their head and the edge of the canvas. Just a few pixels, but it makes a big difference towards attractive composition. Also be careful not too over-sharpen. If you're seeing white speckles on edges, then that area is over-sharp.
