ThatMelaninBaby! Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 (edited) This dude is definitely on my radar! Don't sleep on him... Between this guy and lil Bibby i always thought someone was rapping for them and they would just do the videos like Milli Vanilli. Between this guy and lil Bibby i always thought someone was rapping for them and they would just do the videos like Milli Vanilli. Nooooooo, way off. I've met Bibby before and you can tell he writes the lyrics due to how he freestyles. It is rumored that Bibby sometimes writes for Herb, though. Hence his new style of fast rapping/ Quote
Sir Flash™ Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Incomplete thought much? Well I didn't say much because everyone pretty much new how much i love hip-hop, hell I make music myself. But it is my fault in a sense that you do not know me enough to know that. Hell you just came back. Rappers i'm into at the moment, particularly my top 10 in this order: Kendrick Lamar Tech N9ne Big K.R.I.T. Andre 3000 Nas Eminem J. Cole Hopsin Royce Da 5"9 CyHi Da Prynce Now I love many rappers but in my opinion at this very moment these 10 stand out the most to me and I am a HUGE fan of them. All have lyrical flow for days and talk more about something over nothing. K.Dott, being that his "good kid m.A.A.d city" album is arguably the best rap album we have had in 10 years back when it released in 2012, is an west coast rapper who killed it on the underground scene with mixtapes like Section 80. Because of this mixtape Dr. Dre & Eminem sought after him to join Aftermath (The best rap label out!). Tech N9ne aka Tech Nina or Pookie, from Kansas City, this man can rap very articulate while saying 60 - 115 syllables in 1 minute or less. One of the fastest rapping people in the game and is very damn good! Big K.R.I.T. who is definitely the most underrated/over looked/slept on rapper to have been signed ever in my opinion is true to his dirty south roots. He is what you call a self made producer. He has written many songs and done beats for other rappers and got them famous for it. His own works from his albums/mixtapes are on point as well but is highly under appreciated and it makes no sense to me. Andre 3000, Nas & Eminem, all Old School, still relevant, there is nothing else I should say about them, they all still got it. J. Cole aka Simba, The Chosen One (as deemed by Jay-Z), is from South Carolina, he has been dope since he was in college and still is dope at this moment. Though Born Sinner was a disappointment his sophomore album more than made up for it. This man has a future and will be around. Hopsin is from Cali like K. Dott and is one of the most dope underground artist to exist currently. It is sad that out of the "millions" who claimed to be a true fan, he only sold 50,000 copies of his 2nd album while the rest was downloaded via leak sites. I hate this happened to him because Knock Madness is a damn good album. Royce Da 5"9, a member of Slaughterhouse, apart of Aftermath just like Eminem and Kendrick, as well as Eminem's best friend. Yes they had beef in the late 90's but their friendship overcame that and today we still have this amazing rapper in our midst. Can't wait for Bad Meets Evil's 3rd album. CyHi Da Prynce, a rapper signed by Kanye West into his label GOOD Music (which has many amazing artist), is in my top 10 because he is also underground despite the exposure, drops consistent mixtape after mixtape, great flow, has his own style like everyone else in this top 10 and to me better than 70% of his label. KANYE, stop undermining him and realease a fucking album for CyHi already, dammit! And their you have it guys, maybe i'll link songs for each of my top 10 later. Quote
Sir Flash™ Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Freddie Gibbs, best out right now I haven't been able to get into him since he was with CTE, i just don't know what it is but something about him I do not like. Quote
The Don Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 My take on the genre is that it's just passed me by. The last album i bought was Trill II by Bun B, and a lot has changed since then... Not to mention it almost seems like work now to keep up with new tracks, mixtapes and blah blah blah. I'm very much stuck in my ways and can't really be bothered to search out anything new... Unless they happen to shit out another 2Pac album. I have my favorites that have snuck their way into my "RAWK" playlist and from time to time I'll feel frisky and just throw on my Tech N9ne or Crooked I collection, especially if I'm playing some old Tony Hawk games. I had a buddy who was still big into rap and hip-hop and would always borrow me albums or make me listen and it did nothing for me. I think it may be more of a reminiscing thing, I like what I grew up with but can't be bothered to really botcher with anything new. Quote

Have you listened to Pinata? It's quite, quite good. Currently my favorites have got to be Locksmith, R.A. The Rugged Man, J. Cole, Kendrick, El-P, Bishop Nehru, Earl Sweatshirt, Vic Mensa, K.R.I.T. and Joey Bada$$. I'd have Nas and 3 Stacks as well, but they've already proven their relevance to the point where they don't really need to be mentioned. They're on a level of their own. Quote

Hell you just came back. Rappers i'm into at the moment, particularly my top 10 in this order: Andre 3000 Tech N9ne - not for his music but, how much he makes it crazy, he's a great entrepreneur. Big K.R.I.T. - MT Olympus K.Dot or Ab Soul Nas Eminem - too many fans and idf with him like that for reasons people wont understand. KEMBA X J. Cole Hopsin - Jay Electronica Royce Da 5"9 or Crooked I CyHi Da Prynce - His new mixtape is dope imo.#freedomfighter Also: Alex Wiley, Mick Jenkins,GOD, Killer Mike, and NINo Bless. It might be hard but the 10 i mentioned is what I would suggest to anybody. Shocks me you don't listen to Andre 3000 (One half of the legendary rap group Outkast), Nas, Royce Da 5"9, Tech N9ne, Eminem, they are all old school and still dope. Kendrick looks up to all the old school West Coast rappers and all of them approve of him, hell snoop, game, daz, kurupt, shade sheist and warren g all approve of him. Snoop on quote passed him the torch. And DJ Clue loves K. Dott. Big K.R.I.T. reminds me of 90's southern rap and it flows so well with his style.
