Samy Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 So if someone could correct some grammar or spelling mistakes. Would be greatly appreciated (it is for my english homework) It is an interview and most of this is fictionnal stuff so just focus on the english, not the content Journalist: Hello Mrs. McCarter, may i ask you some questions? HMc: Hello Sir! Yes, sure, ask away Journalist: Alright! So first of all, what got you into sailing? Is it a childhood passion HMc: Yes it is, i've always been amazed by this sport! My uncle Rob used to sail and he oftenly brang me with him on board Journalist: When did your professional career start HMc: It all started 12 years ago when i won a competition. I felt proud because my whole family was there and my friends too Journalist: Oh, that's nice! Now let's talk about your recent exploit. How does it feel to be a woman and smash the record of the shortest trip around the world? HMc: It can be considered as a milestone, if not the best moment of my life. I do feel proud about being a woman and smash a man's record Journalist: I can trust you on that point! Your record is about 71 days and 14 hours right? Even if it is the shortest time, it must have been very long didn't it? HMc: It was indeed horribly long long! It seemed like YEARS for me! But it is my biggest accomplishement so i can be nothing but happy about it. What i missed the most were my relatives Journalist: Oh.. I guess you had hard times on that boat. Last question but not least, what are you planning in your future endavours HMc: I have no serious plan at the moment so only time can tell. I will most likely focus on my family before going back to the sea. Maybe the next generation of McCarters will smash my record! Journalist: Is this a hint at something, miss? HMc: Maybe! Journalist: So it means that we can expect to see one day your own record being smashed by your little boy? HMc:..or by my little girl! Journalist: Then i guess the legacy of the McCarter will go on! Thank you for answering my questions Mrs McCarter! HMc: It was a pleasure to meet you! Good bye! The text is very simple but i just had no idea, plus my english is far from being perfect so help is welcomed thanks in advance! (i'd prefer someone that has english as his native language) Quote
SassySlothh Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 You need to add question marks to the end of your journalists questions And a couple of full stops too Quote
Nate Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 You want me to fix the grammar errors? I can do it in like 15 minutes. I will if nobody has done it by then. Quote
jeb2830 Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Don't forget your periods or question marks after every sentence My corrections: Original: I do feel proud about being a woman and smash a man's record Corrected: I do feel proud about being a woman and smashing a man's record. Original: Even if it is the shortest time, it must have been very long didn't it? Corrected: Even if it is the shortest time, it must have been very long hasn't it? Original: It was indeed horribly long long! It seemed like YEARS for me! But it is my biggest accomplishement so i can be nothing but happy about it. What i missed the most were my relatives Corrected: It was indeed horribly long! It seemed like YEARS for me! But it is my biggest accomplishement so I can be nothing but happy about it. I missed my relatives the most. Quote
