csalt Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I having trouble removing the reflection from the previous image on his jersey, I painted over it and then drew over it, and yet you can still see a reflection of what used to be there, please help. I know about the hat will get to that later lol, but in this this picture you can see the cena and 22 showing up behind the new logo. Quote
Titavius Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) you'll need to go into the alpha channel.. you should see the old image in there, it's probably a light gray colour. just go over it with the same colour as the jersey itself. failing that, check the RGB channel.. you may see an outline of the image in the normal. you can go over it manually or with Nvidia tools, and create a normal map of your new image Edited March 24, 2014 by Titan83 Quote
csalt Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) I don't have photoshop, I use paint.net, but I'll try that, thanks man. Edited March 24, 2014 by csalt Quote
OverTheEdge Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 As Titan mentioned, both the main normal texture, and the alpha channel inside of it, need to be edited in order to fully remove any trace of the original logo. I'm not sure you'll be able to do that through Paint.NET, though. Quote
csalt Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 I just downloaded GIMP, I'm going to try with that. Quote
Crikes™ Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Just edit the normal.dds as far as I remember. Quote
Titavius Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) if you're good with an airbrush, you can pretty much do anything you want to a normal with very little difficulty.. when I studied graphic design in college, normal mapping was one of the things that briefly popped up.. unfortunately it wasn't one of my strongholds because it usually comes under game design. IamCrazyPT helped me understand the Nvida plugin a little better, but when you get into the swing of it, the airbrush is your friend here's a before and after.. and they display as they should in-game.. this way, you have a blank canvas to texture on without having to worry about protruding detail Edited March 24, 2014 by Titan83 Quote
csalt Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 So....I've been reading and playing with GIMP, but I can't figure out how to normal edit. does anyone know the steps? Quote
Smk™ Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I never used gimp but if its sales bit like PS open normal.dds then go to channels Select alpha and just paint the area black which U don't wanna be shown in game Or u can edit normal mapping like titan shown Quote
