zhigge Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) And it came out great... why hasnt anyone just used the textures of the older models with the same success? I would love to know how to do that to get burke, corvon, angle, and others in the game.. Edited March 11, 2014 by zhigge Quote
dyn0myteCAW Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 People do this all the time. How do you think that Petchy's put together his Mutoh? All CSalt did was take the 2013 Jericho and apply the textures. You can apply Burke's, Corvon, etc over any model that might work (the problem is finding one that will) Quote

An old Jericho texture looks right on top of an actual Jericho model? Who would've thought? Go find me Burke, Cor Von or Angle's models in either '12, '13, or 2K14 and I'll gladly show you how it could be done with the same success. Until you're able to do that, there's your answer. Granted, with the ability to edit models now thanks to Tekken's X-Rey, it's far more feasible to recreate guys like that (Brave is working on a wicked looking Angle), but, even still, you can't just slap a texture on a model and have it turn out as it would with someone whose model is already in the game. Titavius Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Personally, I'm not a fan of texturing over a model with somebody else's texture. if you're gonna do it, do what Petchy did and do it properly. I'm a stickler for things like this.. you can call a model whatever you like... if you put a random face texture over Triple H, it's still Triple H. Unless you manually edit the morphing yourself, it's still Triple H. Quote

I was not aware of you being able to use those textures, If I recall at one point everyone from brienj to tekken were saying we couldn't use the textures to mods...or it could have been just the pac. So again that is why i asked. The other stuff was not needed. Quote
bugsyboy Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Its impossible that they said you cant use those textures , you can use any textures you want from any game you want but some of them you gonna need to place yourself. Any Jericho textures probably fit easy on any Jericho models but taking an old texture to try to recreate a model that is not in the last 3 games takes alot more work Quote

So again that is why i asked. The other stuff was not needed. I think you might want to do some reading yourself there, bud. I know what game the texture came from, but it's not like they magically pulled out Jericho's model from 09 and stuck it in 2K14. Jericho already has a model in the game. It can easily be retextured using whatever you want. Judging by what I said not seeming like it was clear and the way you've phrased what you've said above, am I wrong to guess that you're unaware of the difference between a texture and a model? I'm not trying to be condescending or a smartass at all--not anymore, at least--I'm just genuinely asking because that would make some sense out of the confusion that seems to be here. The reason I mentioned '12, '13, and 2K14 is because those are the only games whose models are useable with each other. Any game's models prior to that are essentially obsolete when it comes to the three aforementioned titles. Quote
zhigge Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) I think they were referring to pacs now that i think about it. However that doesn't negate the unnecessary sarcasm .. if i didn't know i didn't know.. its not like i make mods which is why i said i would love to LEARN how to do that.. @ OTE glad you admit you were being a smart ass.. yes i know the difference between a model and a texture. What i said was i did not know you could just use the texture from the older games on models. the guy made it seem super easy and tekken acknowledged that it could be done but he didn't prefer to do it. I've always thought you had to create you own textures from scratch and then apply it because as you just stated things from previous games are kinda obsolete and would require alot of work to be perfect.. kinda like the guy who was working on the lashely mod and it didn't look right and gave up.. I would love to know how to do that to get burke, corvon, angle, and others in the game.. My Bossman, Million Dollar man and Mr Perfect mods are just textures from LOWM put on 2k14 mods. Why would you not be able to use a texture from an older game, or even a completely different game? They are just pictures! You could use a texture from Mortal Kombat if you converted it to dds and made it fit a 2k14 model properly. Quote
tekken57 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 The texture format from the older games are also different, remember that the older games also had an alpha channel which the new game textures don't. It's simple to convert though and most people do mods using textures from older wrestling games anyways. Quote
zhigge Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 @red like i said i thought someone said we couldn't. maybe this is first time i actually payed attention. Csalt made it seem super easy so that was what confused me as tekken said above i thought it was differences that prevented them from being used. however he has stated it was an easy fix and from reading others comments it appears to be an easy.. so know i know and knowing is half the battle. there was no need for any negativity in this thread what so ever.
