Fozy Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Dropbox is so much better than sites like media fire and the likes. It gives you 2GB of space, that you can control straight from your computer's desktop. It's great. Put a file in the dropbox folder on your computer and it will automatically upload to the server. Using the Public folder, you can share these folders with other people easily with an easy right-click and selecting Copy Public Link. So much better than sharing things threw dodgy websites like the ones you guys are currently using, it is also way more reliable than things such as imgur and you can keep track of all your files... EASILY. Another thing you can do is link folders with other users, allowing anything inside these folders to be shared directly with one another, just stick something in and it will automatically be uploaded to the other person's folder. I am sounding like a sales team guy, but man. I've been using it for years and thought you guys should know about it. It'd be great for collaborations with CAWs for example. Try it out, duders. 1 Quote

Fozy Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 Yeah, I did. I have like over 50GB of storage on it too, it's great. If you have a samsung device and connect dropbox to it, you will get 48GB I think! Quote
fufu ÷ Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Mediafire does all of that anyway. No deal, salesman. Quote
Fozy Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Mediafire does all of that anyway. No deal, salesman. Trust me, dropbox is 100x better than anything, it's like you're having to use imagebucket for your images, when it could all be used with dropbox. Edited March 3, 2014 by Fozy Quote

Trust me, dropbox is 100x better than anything, it's like you're having to use imagebucket for your images, when it could all be used with dropbox. I choose to use Photobucket - I don't have too. I separate my different media across different sites > Arty stuff on Photobucket, CAW shit on Tinypic, Film and TV related (work) stuff on Mediafire. The idea of having everything central just means it's easier for someone to jack all of your shit at once. Quote
Fozy Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 Jack all your shit at once? How do you expect that to happen? It's all secure. Quote
fufu ÷ Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 It's pretty easy for someone to find a password and go into your shit. I know and trust Mediafire since it's pretty much been the definitive choice for the past decade. Why change what isn't broken and offers no improvement? Quote
Fozy Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 Mediafire is clearly not the definitive choice. Quote
fufu ÷ Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I would say it was. Considering it's one of the few decent older ones left around, i'd say it's longevity does all the talking. Quote
Fozy Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 Well, you should at least give it a go, I'm sure you'll like it's compatibility with all your devices and others, if you need. Quote
Aero Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Dropbox, with its options on public folders etc and file sharing is much more complete, I use it all the time for file transporting. And better yet the IT guys who do shit for my company use it and they know their shit. I've used media fire, photobucket etc and dropbox is vastly superior... I don't understand why people are never willing to try something new, then stand by their old reliable claiming its better! Quote

When you have around 80gb of stuff uploaded somewhere which is in constant use, it's a little hard to change on a whim. I don't know how the pro option compares to Mediafire, but Mediafire pro is pretty much the dogs hairy pair out of all the pro options i've gone with over time. Quote
twiggadoodledoo Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I never knew you could create a public link on dropbox! I always thought it was just an online document storage kinda place! I been using it for years to transfer tracks and samples to other DJs! Thanks for the info fozy! Quote
Darth 6am3r Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) I never got my 23GB free space for Dropbox for 24 months when I bought my HTC One X.I might try it out anyway. EDIT:I found how to get the 23GB Space by completing the 5 tasks. Edited March 6, 2014 by Mr.Ravishing™ Quote
