Can you use a DAE file to preview the model in Blender?

So, I'm new to modding and I'm ordering my JTAG in a couple of days. I've searched all over google for a good 2 days, so I decided to come to the best people I know.

When it comes to modding, and you need to preview the model, is it alright to convert the pac file to a dae file? Does that work? I have Blender and don't have time to download 3DS Max as it takes up all my room (as I've learned - doing mods for Sims 3) I can assure you I've tried to find it out myself so don't think I'm lazy, just really eager to learn.

Thank you.

EDIT: or does it have to be a OBJ file?

The pacs that contain the model are read as .yobj files. yuo would need to use Brienjs import plugin to import the model into 3DS max and then export to Obj to view in blender.
