I used an old technique with PS2 mods when I couldn't figure out the exact location of something, use a detailed color test pattern over the texture and test.

Same here, except I use a bright green colour to paint on the texture so I can see it in game better :)

No, more like a color chart, I used to have one with thousands of tiny different colored squares, and just pasted it over the area of the texture I had a problem with, so when I tested it, I could see exactly where the texture lined up on the model, based on where the color was.

Ok. I tried the color thing and managed to turn them blue in game, so I went to the alpha channel in the normal and turned it completely black (Which wasn't to hard cause it was pretty much solid black anyway. I then put everything back together and the tassles were still blue so I tried the color.dds I had not edited and the tassles are still there.

So either I did it wrong or do you think they can't be removed? I have made things on mods invisible/transparent before, so I have no clue what the problem might be.

I would think the tassels could be removed similar to the way hair is in the alpha.

I know you've done it before, but are you saving the normal DXT5 ARGB 8Bpp Interpolated Alpha?

I haven't actually checked, but given everything you've tried and that's been said, I'm pretty sure they're part of the base model and not an additional .yobj like the hair or eyelashes are, so they can't be removed.

I think that the tassels are the same as Kevin Nash pants tassels. It is a part of the whole model, but you can erase it in the alpha channel painting in black.

I think I did that once.
