stuck before I have even got going...

Hi guys,

I am just starting out and decided to follow TUTORIAL: How to add alt attires using X-Packer 9 to do my first mod, using the Million Dollar Man example in the tutorial.

I have the latest X-Packer and my WWE 2k14 rip.

The very first action is...

  1. Within X-Packer, press Ctrl + X. Then select the pac file you downloaded: ch136.pac. All pac files you add to your game should follow this naming convention. (chXXX.pac – where XXX represents the character model number)

However when I do this I get an 'invalid PAC warning' and it won't open! Any ideas?

You need to decompress the file using xbdecompress first before opening it in x-packer. In newer versions on the xbox the files were compressed using the xbox toolkit to save space.

ah I see! I did read about that but it was covered in another part of a tutorial, didn't think it applied here...p.s. amazing work the community mate, thank you.

Change the header to epk8. There is an option under the utilities menu in x-packer

Thank you! Managed to get the first two mods in (replaced Mark Henry and Eddie's attire)...small steps and all that :)

ok, so I can replace attires but adding alts is an issue...little bit confused...

So let's say I have the Ultimate Warrior and I want to add an alt attire, let's say the Royal Rumble attire here

Which file do I open first in X-Packer the orginal PAC or the modded PAC before I update the ARC!?

Confused..

guess what I am asking is...can I add ten different attires from different people and add them to the same wrestler in my game?

Hi, that tut is really helpful but alas I am still struggling..tried a variety of things like single mods, 10x Ultimate warriors with a variety of errors!

The latest one is fatal crash error on boot up! I suspect it's something to do with plist360 or something.  When I edit that in X-PAcker it outputs a .bak file and a separate file, called batch file?  Which one should I put back on the hdd??

Thanks again

just did the whole process again and still getting Fatal Crash on start up...there must be something I am missing...

I download a modified PAC file...in this instance I downloaded the 10 x Ultimate Warrior attires

I open the modified PAC file in X-Packer (with the 10 attires) and click add attires to Arc

I then navigate to plist360.arc and click open...you get a window as per my image above

I then navigate to plist360_4x3.arc and click open...repeating the error above

I then close x-packer

I then decompress the misc01_Start.pac file and open up the decompressed file in X-Packer (deleting the original file).  I open this file in X-Packer using the X-Packer 2k14 Misc Pac (alt attires option).

Once this opens I scroll down to the Ultimate Warror's slot and select 10 attires and give them names (does it matter what names I use?)

Once I am done, I hit save and close down x-packer.

I then copy over my decompressed and renamed misc01_Start.pac file and also both Arc files (ignoring the .bak and binery files generated in this process) and overwrite the original files.

Finally, I pop the downloaded Ultimate Warrior bin into the CH folder...

FATAL CRASH ERROR

Any ideas guys? I get the feeling I am so close!!

Thanks in advance

Ignore the bak file, use the .pac.

Go read up on the tutorials.

Hi, yeah I have been ignoring those, I have followed various tutorials but I must be missing a step or something.  I don't need to re-compress anything before I transfer it back over to the hdd do I!?

No the Xbox will read the uncompressed files.

Just make sure you have backups of all original files, you are updating the arc files after each mod, and place everything in the correct folder on the xbox.

yeah, done done and done.  Sill no luck :( gonna try another mod now)

Hmmmm

Just tried inserting Community DLC 1 and I get Fatal Crash Error on that too

http://sf4mods.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/how-to-apply-community-dlc-pack-5.html

Followed each step, tested after option file and was working fine so it was the Arc file which is causing the crash.  I am using the Goldberg/Hogan one as per instructions.

What a frustrating day!!

I am trying to think what could be causing the errors...I ripped my game with Xbox Backup Creator, could that be an issue?

Does X-PAcker need to be set to EPK8 when I am updating the Arcs?

Sounds like you're trying to do too much, you might have missing, corrupted or misplaced files, I would recommend just doing one mod without adding multiple attires to start, when that works then move forward with extra attires and such.

First I would start from scratch, make sure you have a fresh unaltered rip installed on your Xbox HD, then make a backup of everything that you will be modifing (pac files, arc file, even your save)...It might sound like a hassle but you only have to do it once, then work with copies of those files.

Biggest mistake is going apeshit and trying trying to do too much before you are familiarized with the basics.

^^ That is great advice. Also are you playing in HD or not, if you are not playing in 720p or 1080p then you will have to edit the plist360_4x3.arc instead of plist360.arc

Thanks for the replies, I can successfully update single attires without having to edit the arc without any problems.  I have just redone the whole import tutorial with the million dollar man example and it just hangs on the black intro screen with the copyright notice...

I don't know what else to try, if I can do single attires surely alt attires are the next step?

So I have just tried a straight foward CM Punk mod on a clean rip...

Downloaded teh mod -

Opened teh mod in X-Packer (Ctrl and x)

Clicked update, selected the plist360.arc and pressed open.  Got the window confirming both the attire and entrance updated (file size and offset).

Closed down x-packer.  Copied both files over and I get a fatal crash when I select CM Punk..

This is a straight forward mod, is it possible there is an issue with my version of X-Packer?

When I open the downloaded mod, it says the offset for attire 1 is 00, is that correct?

the error you are getting is due to an arc error. Are you running the game in hi def or standard def mode. If you are using standard def, then you need to update the plist360.arc file.

hi def, 1080p.  I have tried updating one and/or both arcs, still no joy
