Mrhfjfhl
Hi everyone! I finally understood how to make my texture working, but I still have a problem... How do I have to save my color.dds file? DXT 1 no alpha or DXT 1 1 bit alpha? I found people like Mathayus who save it with no alpha and I found people like Anabolica who save it with 1 bit alpha... How do I have to save it? Is there a way we can understand how to save it? Thank you

iconbadgta
Are these settings editable in paint.net? Its what I use to open the extracted .dds file then I save it as a 24bit bmp or png I think... I read somewhere here that keeping them in a png format helps.... But once I am done editing the color.dds like said above just save per those settings in paint.net.. Correct? Also which program does everyone reccomend that they use for the best results? When I get my color.dds saved as a .png I use programs like microsft paint and jasc animatiom shop because I am use to it using transparency settings as well as its ability to filter out or make colors I dont want transparentor a different color. As a artist I am always up for the easiest and user friendly gui's so please let us know what works best for you pros that have been doing images and textures for a long time. iconbadgta
Tried it but my type computer can't run it.. Still using xp 32bit.... But i think it still came out pretty good i think! For some reason when i extract the .dds into say a .png, it maakes the png too big... when you convert the final .png back to .dds it's 1.33 and the original is 1.32. go figure. Xpacker says the new dds file that is being injected must match the size of the original one it's replacing. Gonna have to find me a good photo editing software that will run on xp. iconbadgta
Okay... so heres where I am at with my debocale. I tried gimp and it will not save .dds files correctly, when I export the original dds file I export it as a 24bit .png file. I do my editing and now paimt.net saves it but it makes the new dds file 0.01mb too big! Original .dds file is 1.32mb and when I save the png texture as a .dds it saves it as 1.33mb... This is a pain in the ass! I got my wcw bret texture ready to go. I just have to find a program that works with xp that will have the option pt mentioned above. Any suggestions? Red Rooster
Must use Photoshop Paint.net just doesnt save the dds files correctly. There are plenty of versions of Photoshop that will work on XP 32bit, you dont have to use the most modern Photoshop.

iconbadgta
I took your advice and found a plugin that runs off the nividia plugin thats used in photoshop! The problem was the mipmaps, instead of 4 the original had only 3! When i put 3 in it on the ddsconverter program it made it like paint.net which was 1.33, when i lowered the mipmaps to 2 it made it perfect at 1.32mb just like the original! Anyway..... i just sent you a file to try red for bret, right now its numbered the same as brets wm13 at 00017734.... I noticed he has a unused slot at 14 according to tekkens tutorial so that may be a possibility for a alternate costume so people can keep the wm13 as well.
