TheJoshuaGuest Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 I bet if 2K made a TNA game, they would make it much more better than MidWay did because there would be DLC for it and a more improved story mode. I could see a more free creation suite similar to a WWE but more moves that WWE wouldn't allow and story mode could let you free roam around the local area, have your own apartment and even fight in the streets. I would like to see them use a similar engine for WWE Smackdown: Shut your Mouth except use the Predator engine too. Quote
Tamer™ Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 that would be a really cool game but considering how poor they are now i dont see it happening Quote
TheJoshuaGuest Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 Yeah, possibly but I mean TNA Impact! Was all right but its roster sucked because their was hardly any dlc or superstars on it. Quote
DP1™ Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 I would like to se EA Sports make a wrestling game tbh 1 Quote
TheJoshuaGuest Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 Yeah, EA could do a good one but it depends if they could get an engine similar to wwe or better. Quote
best in the world Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 It's funny that you mention this. Because about a week or so ago, IGN had a feature video on their website of Christopher Daniels downloading himself in WWE2k14 with one of their editors[i'm assuming that's who he was anyway]. Anyway, the whole video was hilarious with all the references that Daniels made about himself, Benoit, The Miz, and many others while looking at his creations on CC. He also mistakenly thought a generic power entrance was Big E. Langston's, which shows how little he follows the WWE games. Somewhere along the way, he mentioned how Midway choreographed their animations exactly for the movements that were motion captured I.E. a lockup being a real lockup or an Irish whip throw being an actual Irish whip. The IGN guy asked Daniels when there would be another TNA game and Daniels replied that it would be nice but doubtful. He said TNA were focused on other priorities right now and left it at that. I said all of that to say this: I would LOVE to see a great TNA game developed by a worthy gaming company. With 2K entering into a multi-year deal with WWE, I highly doubt they would develop a TNA game. I actually thought Midway did an excellent job on TNA Impact but they didn't make the game deep enough on core gameplay and should have made it more like WWF No Mercy with multi grapple positions/finishers and had an in-depth submission system. If Midway would have focused more on core gameplay being accurate and focused less on the crappy story mode and lackluster CAW mode, they would have had a much better game overall. The graphics were great and the moves were decent, if only they'd had more moves in a moveset instead of repetitive moves for different directional grapples. As for which company could do a TNA game justice, I wouldn't mind seeing AKI resurrected to do the project with maybe RockStar games partnering with them to pull off the graphics and promotion. I'd like to see what AKI is capable of on new generation consoles and if a company the size of RockStar had the TNA license, I bet they could promote the hell out of it. Unless TNA can make a bigger name for themselves I seriously doubt we'll ever see another TNA game. Which is a shame, because they have a lot of great & unique talents that would be awesome to see in a great WRESTLING game and not just some crappy entertainment based game. WWE games are great, but they haven't focused on wrestling in quite awhile and I'd love to see TNA games brought in to give WWE games some much needed competition...... Quote

Maybe it would force the people @ 2K Sports to up their game even more and actually put effort into their yearly WWE titles. Plus, I like the idea of having multiple wrestling titles on a gaming console. Of course, I have owned practically every wrestling game ever released[which is sad, considering how awful titles like WCW Backstage Assault were], so I am a fan of both wrestling & wrestling games. Their TV shows are very lackluster and boring considering the talent they have and how they fail to use them..... Quote

There will never be another TNA game. The Impact game was a one-off, and the reason we never had a sequel is the reason why there will never be one. TNA is up to its eyeballs in financial woe. This isn't me being an 'E guy, this is fact. They don't have the capital to put into something like a video game series, and even if they did, I can't see them working with the likes of EA. If you had read my first post[assuming it was too long for most to read all the way], I pointed out that Daniels was on an IGN video playing 2k14 and he mentioned that TNA had "other priorities" right now instead of making video games. Which is pretty much another way of saying TNA is too broke to make another one. I thought it was strongly implied on my part that this is a part of the "what if" scenario and not factual. It is more of what I'd like to see as a fan of wrestling & wrestling games. The reality may be that TNA might not make a game, at least not in their current financial shape. However, if TNA is ever sold[a BIG 'if'] and someone who knows wrestling can take over and make profit, I would love to see what a worthy developer could do with a TNA game license...... Quote
TheJoshuaGuest Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 Good thing I made this thread, lol. Seriously if they made one similar to Shut your Mouth but improved it. It would be cool, especially fighting in a bar. I could just picture it now. Bobby Roode and James Storm fighting in a bar brawl similar to SvR 07. Those were the days of old fasioned violence. Quote
ECWDanSelby Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Anyone saying 'I wouldn't like it if they made a game' is crazy. Have WCW/ECW going under not taught you anything?! Competition is ALWAYS good. Even if most of the game sucked, but there were a few fresh approaches and new ideas, 2K could steal them for the WWE games! Quote
Loo The Boss Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 TNA is not WWE, WWE is a monopoly company no one can fuck with them TNA is an alternative you can't compare them side by side honestly. people say TNA is missing top stars but WWE can't even make "Top" stars who is a top star now a days? Raven? Rhino? Tommy Dreamer? X-Pac? Kevin Nash? I supported TNA way back when you had to pay to watch the product on PPV I always been a supporter if you want to compare TNA to anything you have to compare them to ROH I like WWE I like TNA but WWE is a corporate company TNA is Indy company with a tv deal, support TNA Quote
TheJoshuaGuest Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 Mmmmmhhh yeah it is an indie company with a tv contract but it is currently in a financhel crisis and its such a shame. Theyv'e had great moments like the LAX Army, Aces and Eights multiple attacks and shocking departures and returnees. Quote

People don't understand the upside to another wrestling game: You get competition. Which is good in any business. TNA is in bad financial shape so until they can salvage the company, chances that we'll see another TNA game are slim. But this topic shows how short sighted and narrow minded some gaming/wrestling fans can be..... Quote

Nitro, Thunder, and Backstage Assault are all great examples of bad games. I thought WCW Mayhem was actually pretty good. It wasn't great like the WWF Smackdown games, but then again WWF In Your House and WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game weren't so good either I think that any fan of pro wrestling in general would love the idea of another TNA game. That's the problem though, most mainstream wrestling game fans are WWE marks and not fans of all wrestling, thus limiting them in what they could potentially have. Yes, another TNA game could very well suck. But 'what if' it were developed by a new gaming company and turned out decent? Of course that is assuming that TNA will be financially set enough in the future to afford to produce a game. At their current rate, they'll go under pretty soon if nothing changes and the company isn't sold..... Quote

In Your House and Mania the arcade game sucked and looked very arcadish and silly. People didn't sell moves or stay down. So, minus the whole fatality type of button combos for finishers those games were pretty good. Imagine if a potential TNA game were like the upcoming 5 Star Wrestling game in that it encorporated psychology and unique finishers/reversals of finishers into other finishers, and overall were more lifelike. WWE games don't even have that wearing down type of psychology although their limb targeting is pretty close. I also like how 5 Star will have tired/quick/power finishers and which one you hit at certain points in the match determines the amount of damage you apply, which is very detailed and realistic. If a TNA game had a similar setup, it would force 2K to try to keep up which in turn makes all of us wrestling game fans the winners. I'm not really seeing a downside..... Quote

Yup! Absolutely! Any wrestling game that's shifting copies is COMPETITION, meaning it lights a fire (no matter how big or how small) under 2K to some degree. Plus, even if the gameplay sucks, there may just be a good idea or two in there somewhere that can be poached and improved by 2K. We're in a day and age where you can't just release a wrestling game that sucks and has zero features (ie. just doing 1-1 bouts, zero weapons, basic moves). Besides, I was in the VAST minority that happened to enjoy Mayhem and Backstage Assault. Quote
