Issue with the NPC's movesets...

.. is there any way to change the grapples on the NPCs? They all seem to have the ref grapple (admonishing the opponent) for most moves.. there has to be a way around that.

I am on a retail console (I know, I know.. wish I had the money for a JTAG, but funds are tight right now..)

You can do it with X-Packer 9. Extract the moveset from a normal wrestler and inject it into the NPC slot.

That won't work on retail, though, right?

EDIT: Nevermind.. I see that it would. I would like to purchase X-Packer 9.. but again, I would like to have a hacked console to make it worthwhile too.. the DLC project you guys are taking on is pretty amazing...

Yes, movesets, caw info and wrestler info all work on retail. Anything that involves only editing your save file doesn't require a JTAG.

FWIW.. editing the movesets fixes the problem, except for the NPC's standing front grapples... editing them in game allows the NPCs to have strikes, running grapples, top rope moves, groggy grapples.. but not front standing grapples.

Anyone know of a way to fix that outside of X-Packer? Seems like a simple thing for such a pricey solution...

.. and the more I dig, the weirder it is.

Characters affected by this include Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole, Jim Ross, Justin Roberts, Cameron, Naomi, WWE Crew 1, WWE Crew 2, Referee

Characters NOT affected by this include Roddy Piper, Ricardo Rodriguez, Mr. Fuji, Howard Finkel, Mr. Perfect, Miss Elizabeth, Paul Heyman, Paul Bearer, HBK (Street Gear), Bobby Heenan, HBK (Referee)

It would be an even split between the managers and total NPCs, except that Piper and Finkel are counted as managers for this. and neither of the HBKs are affected. Weird..

lol. he just told you how to fix it. you can't fix it without using xpacker at the moment. they have made NPC truely None Playeable Characters this year.

Update on this:

All of the NPC's restrictions on moves are, for some reason, tied to the non-working entrances. Assigning them different entrances (I used Hacker T's program, but pick your poison) makes them have editable movesets, and not do the "point and admonish" grapple.

Just wanted to share the solution I found.

(FWIW: I never bought X-Packer.. not because it isn't worth it.. but because I don't own an RGH Xbox.. making most of what I'd want it for not possible. Hopefully in the near future.... it's awesome what Tekken has done with this game....)
