Red Rooster Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 It's your creation but your not helping anyone but yourself in your thinking when really we should all be in this together to make the game better for all of us. He doesnt care about making the game better
Thee Chucknasteh Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 (edited) If it weren't for all the restrictions in place, I'd definitely buy the tool. As somebody who frequented XHP on occasion, there were people who fixed PTs absolutely free of charge. I've never been a fan of all these tools that are locked to an IP, impose ridiculous restrictions as though they are a legitimate enterprise. I definitely don't mind paying for a tool, I'd rather not, but I don't mind it. But I'd like to see a lot more out of this tool to justify such a hefty price tag, esp. when so many of the features have been part of tool releases that had more content and were absolutely free. I understand that allowing people to share logos decreases revenue you're going to make from the tool, but you could easily lower the price of the tool to counteract that. If you're offering a tool for $5 dollars instead of $18 (USD pricing is what I'm showing), you're going to make money regardless. I remember when Brien released his tools, donations were required, but when you purchased the tool you could pretty much do whatever (within reason, you know, besides copying it, giving to other people, etc.) that you liked with the tool. That's what I want if I'm paying for something. If I want to make something for a friend, I want to be able to do that. If I'm taking longer than a friend would like, if I don't want to make something for them, chances are if a tool is cheap they're going to buy it for themselves. It was that way in SvR 11 (I think, or WWE 12? Can't remember clearly.) with the move-set editor. Yeah, we could share move-sets with eachother, but most people simply bought the tool so they could do it for themselves versus relying on eachother. I don't think it's unreasonable to charge for a tool. I really don't. Would I rather get something for free? Fuck yeah. But if you're going to charge for something, make sure it's worth the price of what you're charging. If there were less restrictions, it was cheaper, I guarantee that even without the limitations your product would be protected, and people would buy it just so they could do these things for themselves.Edit: People are going to get around the restrictions, ignore the TOS, and from the looks of community creations a lot of people already are. What it comes down to is whether or not you're going to try to make it so there really isn't a reason for people to do that or not. Edited December 17, 2013 by Thee Chucknasteh
WolfgangJT Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) perhaps KG would consider a price reduction? I dunno.. maybe in-time for the post christmas sales. that way, people who weren't going to bother have a little more incentive to buy? Why would he do that? So all of us who weren't cheap and paid full price go after him wanting money back because he started offering it for less to others? Be realistic... @Pur3...simple solution, you, brienj, everyone at XHP simply lose your restristictions and make a competing program, then you have nothing to worry about. Though I have agreed to the idea that things like this have always been free and this is the first time I recall ever having to pay for one, the fact of the matter is 360haven programs got to the point that you HAD to post there for access to keep working (so also having restrictions for use taht you aren't mentioning...the fact we have to bown down to the program makers on that forum and post there pointlessly just to continue having access), then people had to put up with brienj getting mad about something and deciding he wasn't going to do this anymore for the community, knowing he had the sole programs that did it, and even last year making one that in fact did not work for retail Xbox's (making things a huge pain on us a creators and people having to always do fixes for others)....and now you guys are hating on the one and only guy who has come up with a tool to do this AND it also works on retail again? Why, because it now makes brienj's hiatus or ability to produce a retail working one for 2 years a little less impactful as far as a PT program not being available? I mean no disrespect to anyone here and fully respect all tool makers that have graciously contributed to the community, but I think it's interesting watching you guys bash on a guy who finally did what you guys haven't done in several years (all of you combined didn't make a single PT tool that worked on retail since WWE 12) and he decides he wants to charge for it and you make fun of him for it? A bit hypocritical if you ask me...to do what brienj's tool did and for me to be able to do it on my own, aren't I being "charged" so to speak by having to buy a jtag Xbox if I don't want to have to be in a position where I have to wait on people to fix PT's? How are the programs any good when I need to have a modded Xbox to get full use of them, which makes me have to pay a whole hell of a lot more money than $18 to gain back ability to do everything on my own? If it bothers you that much, maybe get some of you out of retirement that happens it seems every year, make what hasn't been made in over 2 years, and make it where there's a competing tool that is for retail, not just jtags...and is free. If this was such a concern, I guess there should have been a bit more work done over there at 360haven to figure out how to pass the checksums last year, that way a tool could be released that would work on retail xbox's, like there used to be. dantheman9856 Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 anyone else find this hilarious that a hacker is trying to protect his work? The whole point is to hack the man (Yukes,) not become the man.
El Guapo Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 ..., the fact of the matter is 360haven programs got to the point that you HAD to post there for access to keep working... I wonder how many people write a short 'Thanks...' post on any random app's thread once a week just to keep their account active..?
Titavius Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) @Wolfgang JT.. I actually do agree with what you're saying, I do. And I also believe KG should be able to charge what he wants. I was just worried that people will no longer choose to buy the tool, because they are being influenced by these 'high ranking' modders. People should have their own mind about this, and the fact is that KG is the first this year and the ONLY guy to create a working import tool for retail in two years. A lot of the jealousy will be about the money though. Not about the fact that KG has created a working tool, it'll be because he's making a tidy profit from it, when in the past, others have chose not to. It's quite sad really. Here's the bit that really hurts though.. that was your choice. I'd have quite happily paid for any of Briens tools. Why? because I appreciated the time and effort that had gone into creating them. In the real world, time is money.. and if you can turn your hobby into paying job, well then more power to you. Edited December 18, 2013 by Titan83
luthor1940 Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) The problem is not the money, the problem is not allowing Logos like Title plates on for people to create belts. The only way to make other company belts correctly is with logo's as there is no download a belt this year. It is wrong he is not allowing the community not to be able to do this for the benefit of others. Edited December 18, 2013 by luthor1940

Oh, I'd say thanks to the guys who made the programs I used...but why should I have to say thanks to ones I don't just to keep an account active, or say thanks to the same one over..and over...and over...lol. That's absolutely pointless. anyone else find this hilarious that a hacker is trying to protect his work? I work hard at that too, but I'm not about to say give me all the credit and you must do this and that and then charge for it. That is like the thief stealing from a thief and then charging for their stealing services. I do it for the community and my own fun, not the dollar. Yukes works for the dollar and lets be honest, they are terrible. Not to mention, if I were to sell the logos that would be infringement itself. I would assume charging to mod a game would be infringement on WWE 2K14s policy as even modding the game is probably an infringement. Once someone else figures out how to do this and releases it for free this guy is done. Edited December 18, 2013 by dantheman9856
WolfgangJT Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 You do realize I was meaning the part where you said "hack the man, not become the man" with "theman" in your name, right?...lol.

Connor MacLeod Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 From what I understand from reading this thread, you are not allowed to share ANYTHING you make with it. It's just one of many restrictions it has.
