Miztah Raza Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Texture Modding using ZLIB Functions in X-PacKer 9 Ever been annoyed by the fact that you had to update those pesky little arc files for a simple attire retexture? Or perhaps you had to edit another file that X-PacKer couldn't update the arcs for? We've all been there, but, with the arrival of the brand new, kick-ass X-PacKer 9 you won't ever need to touch those again! Well, maybe sometimes So, let's get started: You'll need the following: X-PacKer 9 Your favourite photo editing software Aaaand, that's basically it. Okay, so first off, you're going to want to have a texture file ready to go and make up a sweet texture. It doesn't matter who you want, it better be good though. If it ain't the modding Gods be comin' after you NIGGA! Then, uncompress your chxxx.pac file using xbdecompress. Open your uncompressed file in X-PacKer 9 using Ctrl + X Extract the PACH file you wish to edit Open your PACH file using the Ctrl + 3 function Uncompress the 000A and/or 000C.pac files according to the textures you want to edit. Press Ctrl + T and choose your 000A/000C texture archives. Inject your edited texture. Open the PACH file using the CTRL + 3 function again. Now, press the "Compress and inject" button in X-PacKer 9 and choose your 000A/000C file. Inject your PACH file back into the chxxx.pac file. That's it! No need to update the arcs! How fking conviniet, right? Quote

OverTheEdge Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Good stuff, my friend. Thanks for writing this up for everyone. Quote
Miztah Raza Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 You're welcome OTE. It's pretty straight forward, but I just wanted everyone to know how to use it Quote
datkido Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) I'm glad you did this, nice straight forward and easy to follow as usual. I think I was down to do it but got the xbox one today so will probably be spending a lot of time on that. can't wait to see what WWE 2K15 is like on it! btw are all these Xpacker 9 tutorials gonna be put into a pinned thread? they might become hard to find over time otherwise. b1uechr1s Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I apologize for reviving an old topic, but i figured seems as it was directly related to this tutorial, it wouldn't be such a crime. I've tried to do everything in this tutorial, but when i get to: Open your uncompressed file in X-PacKer 9 using Ctrl + X Extract the PACH file you wish to edit The pach file that i have extracted is only 2KB in size. Which is obviously far too small. I have no idea what i'm doing wrong, and why its not working. Im trying to extract ch125.pac but have also tried ch114.pac, still the same result. Any help would be awesome. Chris Quote
b1uechr1s Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Yeah, I used xbdecompress.exe, Ijust checked, and i am actually able to do all of the above for arenas, just not for CH pacs. Its strange. Quote

b1uechr1s Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 ...No i did not... I didnt even realize i had to. I shall look into it, thank you for the information Quote
tekken57 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Yes the headers in the new game is set tp epac by default which causes x-packer to read them incorrectly. Quote
MrManolo135 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 compress and inject doesent work for randy orton's pac Quote
tekken57 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 It only works for files which are bpe or zlib compressed. If the file in the pach is another extension, it won't work. Quote
MrManolo135 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 It only works for files which are bpe or zlib compressed. If the file in the pach is another extension, it won't work. the texture archive is zlib after compress and injecting to the pach file Quote
tekken57 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Was the texture archive bpe before you compressed and injected? Quote
MrManolo135 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Was the texture archive bpe before you compressed and injected? yes Quote
Dbo2700 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Wow. Why isn't this in the Tutorial Index? This is great! Thank you! Quote
Dbo2700 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Ok. Question. How do you do this but keep the "Superstar Threads" option? Quote
Dbo2700 Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 I'm a bit confused here. So far.... I've Uncompressed my pac- Extracted my 02 file- Uncompressed that and ended up with an 000C.pac and an 000C.bpe- There I'm stuck because Xpacker wont open either. Help please. Quote
El Guapo Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I'm a bit confused here. So far.... I've Uncompressed my pac- Extracted my 02 file- Uncompressed that and ended up with an 000C.pac and an 000C.bpe- There I'm stuck because Xpacker wont open either. Help please. Are you using CTRL+T in XPacker to open the uncompressed one? 1 Quote
Dbo2700 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Yes. I hit control T and when I pick (I think) the bpe nothing happens. I get an error message asking if I want to continue or cancel. Quote
UndertakerWLF Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Use Ctrl+T on the pac file not the bpe file. The pac file is uncompressed, the bpe is compressed. 1 Quote
Andy Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Open file - texture - select your 000C.pac. Than you see the color.dds Quote
