The D Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 So, I downloaded Red Rooster's Ultimate Warrior pack. I uncompressed misc01_start.pac Opened it in hex editor, found Ultimate Warrior's code and replaced it with the code from his topic. Then I saved the misc01_start.pac.uncompressed file and renamed it misc01_start.pac and overwrote the original. Then I moved the downloaded ch254.pac into my ch folder and overwrote the original. Then I opened the modded ch254.pac file in X-Packer and added the attires to the arc files and updated the arc files. When I load the game, it gets stuck on the copyright screen before the 2K logo. Now, I've got to be missing something but I can't think what. Any help would be great! Thanks! Quote
Red Rooster Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) Sounds like you did everything right. Ive had a few times where Im positive Ive done everything right but the game still locks up on startup. Then I redo it exactly the same and it works fine, weird. Start again with a fresh misc01_start.pac, plist.arc and plist 4x3.arc. (you didnt mention replacing the original arc files with the updated ones but Im assuming you did that) Edit : One other thing I thought of, make sure when you paste my hex into the misc01_start.pac that it overwrites whats there not inserts the code otherwise your misc file will be messed up (Your misc01_start.pac should always be that same size, if its bigger than an unedited decompressed version of the file then you have done it wrong) Edited November 18, 2013 by Red Rooster Quote
The D Posted November 18, 2013 Author Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) That may be the issue then, but I figured X-Packer updated the files themselves instead of making new ones? It makes a plist.pac.bak (which I assume is a back up?) and they're sitting in the same folder as the .arc file. Xbox 360 Edited November 18, 2013 by The D Quote
The D Posted November 18, 2013 Author Posted November 18, 2013 Ah, I think I recall it saying it would make the file bigger, I think that's the problem! How do you make it so it copies over what's there and doesn't add it in addition to the prexisting code? Quote
nikethebike Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) If you use HxD you can press ctrl-B (paste write) instead of ctrl-V (paste insert) to overwrite. The alternative is also there in the edit menu. Edited November 18, 2013 by nikethebike Quote
The D Posted November 18, 2013 Author Posted November 18, 2013 Thanks guys, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out! I'll see if that works! Quote
The D Posted November 18, 2013 Author Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) Okay, so it's still freezing up my game, although I did find out that I had added the code instead of replacing. The misc01_start.pac (with the new Warrior code) file size is now the same as the original, but the 'size on disk' is bigger for the edited (with the new Warrior code) misc01_start.pac file, but I assume that's okay? I'm gonna' try again tomorrow with fresh arc files and a fresh misc01_start file. Cheers again lads! Edited November 18, 2013 by The D Quote
Red Rooster Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 One more piece of advice is once you get it working, save a backup of the misc, the 2 arcs and the ch.pac file somewhere on your computer then if you try to add something more later and something goes wrong you can always revert back to a working copy of the files without having to start over again. I have about 7 different versions of the misc and arcs at different stages of my modding so I can always get it back to a working state if something gets screwed up. Quote

The D Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Okay, completely fresh 2K14 files and it's still getting hung up in the same place as before. Can someone explain what files need the 'update arc files' in X-Packer and which one needs updating with the attires? Really getting confused with this stuff now... Quote
Red Rooster Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) 1)Open ch254.pac in xpacker and hit "Add additional attire data to arc file" find your plist360.arc file and hit open. 2)Press "Add additional attire data to arc file" again and find your plist360_4x3.arc and hit open. 3)Close xpacker 4) Open misc01_start.pac in a hex editor and find where warriors attire data starts (Search for Hex value FE) 5) Overwrite with the Hex data from my thread. 6) Save and close hex editor 7) Transfer ch254.pac, misc01_start, plist360.arc and plist360_4x3.arc to your xbox overwriting the existing files. The D Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Oh my God, it worked! I think I was updating the arcs too often and did it in a different order, although I was doing the same things completely. Anyway, it's working now so thank you so much! Quote
WholeFnJobberWLF Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Hey guys, I am having the exact problem, I am thinking it has to do with when I do the Hex though. But I followed the tutorial to the T and I am still having problems. This has always been why I didn't do much in the way of adding attires/characters to the game in the past, because I suck. LOL. Anyway, please correct me if I am wrong. I open HxD, ctrl-F to bring up search, select Hex Value, and type in FE. It brings up the section of the Hex code that has FE in it. I hit ctrl-B or write click and select write, and I paste in the values from Red's original post. Am I missing something or doing something wrong? Sorry to be a total noob with this. Quote
Red Rooster Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) Its best to know a little about what you are doing first so have a read of this guide first, it is for WWE13 but the steps are exactly the same in 2k14 except using the misc01_start.pac instead of misc.pac and the pac file has to be uncompressed first. http://smacktalks.org/forums/index.php/topic/39588-editing-the-miscpac-to-add-additional-attires/ Edited November 22, 2013 by Red Rooster Quote
WholeFnJobberWLF Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Thanks I will try this! Much appreciated! I have to say, this place is extremely helpful. By my name you probably figured out that I was from WLF, it is so rare to find a place that is of that ilk with the people that make it up. People willing to help and not blast you for being a noob and what not. Again, I really appreciate it and the excellent job the mod. Can't wait until I have it working. Quote
WholeFnJobberWLF Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 IT WORKED!! I wasn't uncompressing it and recompressing!! Thank you so much!! This place is awesome! Quote
