Story Designer on the 360 keeps freezing

I hope someone else has a clue about this, because I'm lost:

When I try to load certain CAWs into a cutscene in Story Designer, the game freezes up while it's loading the CAW.  The animation doesn't matter, nor does where I put the CAW in the Cast list, but for some reason, the CAW's position on my list does--for instance, if I try to load CAWs 21 or 25, my game will freeze, guaranteed.  My first twenty, along with a few others scattered throughout my list, will work fine.  Copying these problem CAWs to a different slot (i.e. #100) doesn't help, nor does moving my game save from a flash drive to my hard drive.

I've already sent a support request to 2K.  Anyone else have any thoughts in the meantime?

The only other thing I can think of is that maybe CAWs with certain parts are causing the freezes, but that doesn't make any sense because every CAW on my roster is a copy-paste from '13, and this problem didn't exist then.  If '13 was going to crash, it'd crash during a load screen, not in the Cast list.

EDIT: I can confirm that, out of my 36 CAWs (all female), trying to plug CAWs 21, 24, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 34 into a cutscene will freeze my game every time.  I also tried creating a male CAW to see if gender played a factor, but trying to load him into a scene still froze the game.  However, copying CAW 21 into CAW 1's slot and then plugging the new CAW 1 into a scene works fine.

I'm using the default scene that first comes up (Promo > Taunt), in case you're wondering.

had the same problem when i tried to add a scene of 3 man commentary (bischoff heenan and michael cole) the game froze each time as i was loading up bischoff. guess story designer is out for me this year. And for the record Bischoff's slot was like slot #91

Well, I sent another support request to 2K that listed all my findings as an update to the one I already sent.  I'll make sure to pass on whatever they tell me.

Well, I finally heard back from 2K Support, and I wish I could say I was more impressed with their answer.  Still, I guess it's as good a place to start as any.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting 2K Games Support.

We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with one of our titles. Below you will find some Console Troubleshooting steps which may help resolve the issue. These are the official troubleshooting steps provided by Microsoft on their support site:

Before troubleshooting, please check the following:
 1. Turn the console off and on.
 2. Unplug all power cords and accessories, and then plug them back in firmly. Make sure all connections are secure.
 3. Update your console software (this article from Microsoft details how to check if your console software is up to date http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/system-updates/system-updates-info)

Clearing the System Cache:
 1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.
 2. Select Storage or Memory.
 3. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller.
 4. Select Clear System Cache.
 5. When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes.

Clearing the Game Data:
(Prior to clearing the game data, ensure that you back up any Save Data so it doesn't become deleted)
 1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.
 2. Select Storage or Memory.
 3. Highlight any storage device, and then press A on your controller.
 4. Select Games and Apps.
 5. Scroll through the list until you find the game you want to clear the data, once you find it press A on your controller.
 6. Delete any game related files which are not "save" files, if these files are deleted they cannot be recovered.
 7. Once all of the files have been deleted, go back to the Xbox Dashboard Home.
 8. Reboot the game.

If this is still happening let's try this on a second 360 to see if the same issue is occurring.

Cheers,

Brad

First of all, I'm not running out and buying a new 360 just to test a theory that could end up being wrong.  Second, if I'm reading this right, they're asking me to delete all my CAWs, arenas, and championships.  Don't those count as save files, too, or are they mainly talking about the "savedata.dat" file?

EDIT:...especially since CAWs/arenas/etc. are all labeled as "saved games" in the Dashboard.

Ive been having the same issues. I was able to get one scene to work Attack>Interview 1. I'm able to get my CAWs loaded as the person being interviewed and the attacker but if I loaded a female CAW for the interviewer it freezes.

Ive also tried others scenes (Found>Knocked Out, GM>Roulette, Post-match>Attack with chair 1) with multiple CAWs (just 2) and they freeze. I'm going to see if changing the location of the caw slot will fix it and report back.

Updating:

So while just testing a few things, it seems my CAW slot 18 and 35 did not work in story mode. Copied those CAWs to 70 and 71. Moving CAW 18 to 70 seemed to work as I am able to load a scene.

CAW 35 that was moved to CAW 71 also loaded for me right away in a scene with multiple CAWs.

Thanks for passing this along.  I'll try copying a couple CAWs to slots 70 and 71 to see if they work for me.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post.

EDIT 2: Slots 69, 70 and 71 all work fine for my save.  The mystery deepens.

See, slot 69 didn't work for me.

This may be one of the most annoying things we'll have to deal with and it is putting my Marvel vs DC Universe that I want to put on YouTube on hold.
