gamingsinceatari Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Definitely excited about the new possibilities, but RVD's face was never really a problem for me. Its the body that bugs me Quote
Titavius Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 (edited) OK, here's what I'm talking about... This is just a photoshop example. So I took the new jaw/face shape from tekkens new Topogun result, and combined that with the facial features that were already in-place. Outstanding results.. If this can be applied, then there really is no limitations! Edited July 26, 2014 by Titan83 Quote
Petchy Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Comparing it to the 2011, I'm quite proud of how close I got that RVD's morph to look similar to it especially the profile shot. I agree with Titan, if you could get a mix of the existing feature but new mouth / jaw shape, would be great. I've made edits to RVD's body too now so that he's smaller. Quote
tekken57 Posted July 26, 2014 Author Posted July 26, 2014 (edited) That's correct, like I said the change in the face requires changes to the texture as well to fit the new shape. I haven't touched the texture at all on the topogun pics as I wanted to illustrate the raw result. Topogun can be used to shape any object. Most of the tutorials I've seen are around shaping bodies. I only purchased the software last night so I haven't started applying it to the body morphing as yet. Anyways I wanted to bring this to attention of the forum as the mods look very close to the old models after applying topogun on them. With some work on the models and textures , I think we can come very close. I'd like to get more opinions before typing up the tutorial as it's a complicated process and topogun is commercial software as well. If you guys think modelling via max is better, that's fine also Edited July 26, 2014 by tekken57 Quote
tekken57 Posted July 26, 2014 Author Posted July 26, 2014 @petchy, it is because your morph was so close to the 2008, that topogun was able to reshape it further to look more like Rvd. If the original mod looks nothing like the wrestler, Topogun does not magically make it look as such. E.g you cannot take a stone cold model and magically make it look like the rock. Topogun is merely a tool to help shape the model. Quote

Funnily enough I was thinking about something like this when X-Rey first came out, thinking surely there was a way for an object to almost be shaped automatically into another, glad you've found a step in that direction! OverTheEdge Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Personally, I've got to say Van Dam's face looks far more like him after the TopoGun process--especially the shape of the eyes. Like you said, Tekken, the texture is playing a big part in why it may look off in that shot. Quote
RJJ Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Just...WOW Hey can you give Rock 2008 body a try? Quote
tekken57 Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 Work with Topogun the whole weekend to get familiar with the process. It's very time consuming as I had to make more tweaks in 3dsmax after topogun with things I wasn't happy with. Also had to spend a lot of time joining the head to the neck as the head didn't fit exactly after reshaping. Made a few texture tweaks as well but nothing major. I made the body smaller a few weeks ago before topogun. Tried shaping the body with topogun but it caused clipping issues as the quads overlapped with the knee guards etc. So I decided to stick with my body morphing. Here's what RVD looks like now: Max Render: In game: Quote
bravebird31 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I like where it is going, but his face looks too thin. Quote
tekken57 Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) Remember that this is based on his 2008 model. His face was a lot thinner then: I could have used his 2011 model but I felt that it didnt look much like him facially. Edited July 28, 2014 by tekken57 Quote
Petchy Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Definitely like the update on this, I've made changes to the body too but yet to test in-game but if it looks smaller / more RVD like I'll send the model over to you! Quote
OverTheEdge Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 That looks damn near perfect, man. Really, really nice work again on discovering this whole TopoGun thing. Between that and the touch-ups you've done, this is looking even better than his 07 model. Quote
UndertakerWLF Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Looking Amazing, I think you would be hard pushed to tell that was a modded model. Quote
tekken57 Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 Thanks guys. I took brave's suggestion and made the face wider. I think it looks final now. @petchy, sending you and hotavioh the model now. See if you want to make any edits before I release. Wider face: 1 Quote

The only suggestion I'll make is maybe add a hairline texture so that ithe forehead meets the hair a little better? like this.. I could do it for you if you like? You can decide whether it works or not.. Edited July 28, 2014 by Titan83 Quote
tekken57 Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 Good suggestion. The model is with petchy at the moment. You can have a go at the hairline as soon as the morphing is done. Quote

Send over the color and the normals when it's ready and i'll see what I can do I'll try a few different RVD hairlines and see which works best, although the example I posted above could potentially work quite well..
