BrotchMrToast Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 (edited) WARNING! In this Thread I'm not entirely talking about the fictional Character the World Wrestling Entertainment created, i'm referring to him in person, as he is a powerful man and mostly directs his gimmick himself. Although I'm not gonna offend him in person, I'm just opening my own opinion to this forum about his role in the WWE and everything that we saw him do inside his gimmick. Everything that I use against him (for example the part with Zack Ryder) consists out of facts. Also, everything bad mentioned about him is my personal opinion. Please enjoy. Almost Everybody I know dislikes Cena, it's nothing new disliking him. "But why do ya'll dislike him?" That is the question that every Cena fan ask's himself. Quite frankly, there are many reasons to dislike him, but everybody has his own personal opinion. I'm gonna tell you my Top 5 reasons why I dislike him. 5. He behaves like a 6 year old. You have no Idea what I mean by that? Well, just take a look at his entrance when he is in England (where people Boo him out of the building) and...any other state that gives him, for some reason, a standing ovation. Everytime he gets somewhat of a pop he totally freaks out during his entrance, jumps around, smiles in the camera and so on. But what happens as soon as he gets booed? Yeah, he slowly goes out, is stale as f*ck and looks like he just saw a ghost. I know that it hurts his feelings and stuff, but not only is he a grown man, but also a f*ckin' professional. 4.He takes himself WAAAAY to serious. Let me explain this to you with an example. Remember when Z!True Long Island Story was at it's best? Zack ryder constantly tried to convince his good friend Johnny to appear on the show. After the show finally gained a ton of views Cena finally agreed to appear. What did he do? Did he wear Zack Ryder merchandise and constantly telling the viewers what of a great Wrestler and Person Zack ryder is(wether it is true or not is opinionized)? No, he quickly walked in and then went out of the picture as soon as he was seen. Saying this one line: "Hey bro, love your show" This is only an example, but still we all know that he did that to appear "rare". 3.He doesn't put talent over.(AFTER TEN F*CKING YEARS AND 11 WWE CHAMPIONSHIP REIGNS) John Cena is the most powerful full-time Wrestler in the WWE right now, he could easily say "I really like this guy, let me lose to this guy by roll-up on a major PPV so he gets a push" Perfect situation, the guy gets a push and cena is still standing strong. But no, he constantly keeps getting Title shot after Title shot after Title shot, the only thing that comes even close to pushing a talent was when he lost to Ziggler at TLC. Remember how he lost? Aj pushed him off the f*cking ladder and Ziggler had to hit his Superkick to a helpless Cena. A couple of Raws Later Cena beat Ziggler in a Steel Cage match, in which he kicked out of both of Zigglers finishers. Then there was that WM match vs The Miz, which was more of a promo for that Rock vs Cena match, because Rock needed to come out and attack Cena, so Miz could steal the victory. Even the previous faces of the company put a guy over every now and then. 2.5 Moves of Doom This is really one of the most generic answeres to this question, alongside with "He wins every single of his matches" (which isn't really much of a problem for me, I mean, Stone Cold did aswell, didn't he?). But the the thing that is really freakin' me out here is that: Look at his matches with CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Shawn Michaels...THIS DUDE CAN F*CKING WRESTLE. Sure, he isn't really as great as the Performers mentioned before, but he CAN put on 5 Star matches. The thing is, he does it like every second year. While People with a similiar Wrestling ability like The Rock (and yes, I do think that those two are equally good) puts on a good match almost everytime he competes, almost every match of Cena looks about the same, except for those rare good matches of him.And this REALLY pisses me off. 1.He is always Mr. Super-Nice Being the face of the company doesn't really mean you need to be this Baby-facish character who NEVER says a bad word about his oponent. Look at Stone Cold, The Rock, Shawn Michaels and currently Daniel Bryan (As he is the part-time face of the company untill Cena comes back, I guess) They all are faces, but they all are bad-asses.They make fun of their oponents, embarress them and other hilarious stuff. Then take a look at Cena's first promos against Daniel Bryan. I'm sorry, did I say "against" Daniel Bryan? He pushed him even more, and when D-Bry started to get offensive, instead of mocking him back, John Cena started to defend himself and tried to not make himself look like the biggest Loser (mission failed) The only funny and cool Promos from Cena against one of his oponents was in 2011 when he mocked The Rock...that's it. Bottom Line: John Cena is a good wrestler with a good look and great Mic-skills. He could easily be one of those guys we really loved back in the Attitude Era...but no, instead of stepping in such great food-stepps like those from Shawn Michaels, he justr keeps being this stale character...for ten years. Now it's your turn, do you agree with me? Do you dislike John Cena aswell, and if you do, what are your Top 5 reasons? Or do you actually like Cena? If so, tell me your Top 5 reasons why he is awesome! Edited September 15, 2013 by BrotchMrToast Quote
Miz_fit Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 (edited) Then Imagine this (I wrote this on another thread)... John Cena will be on the microphone chatting his usual rubbish and then the glass would shatter and the crowd would stand on their feet as stone cold stormed into the ring. he would hit a series of stone cold stunners on john cena and then say "Austin 3:16 Says I just whipped you a*s!" drink a glass of beer, smash it onto cena's face and then leave. Righteous Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I respect Cena the man. Aside from him cheating on his wife. I respect his drive, desire, and dedication to the sport. But when it comes to Cena the wrestling character. I despise it! (as most know). He is a waaaay better wrestler than people give him credit for. Dude has alot of skills, but his gimmick is stuck with the 5 moves of doom deal. He always rises to the occasion in BIG match settings. And most of the time puts on a great match in PPV settings. His gimmick is dry and stale. I do hate how he looks at himself like he's the measuring stick of professional wrestling. I never like 2 see anyone get hurt, but I really do enjoy the WWE when he is away. I personally would LOVE 2 see him do a heel turn like Hogan did(ofcourse it would never happen). As long as he doesnt go back to rapping(dude was HORRIBLE!). Have him come out and just destroy the fans and turn his back on them- would be beautiful!!! Quote

I agree 100%, hell, let's say 200%, this is exactly what I feel. But I got to say, I really want to think that Cena is a great person in real life, but with him cheating on his wife and with taking hisself so serious..it's hard for me to believe that he is such a great person...I know he does alot of charity and stuff, but who know what his reasons behind that are? Anyways, I don't know him in person and I'm not going to judge his real life person, even thou things like I mentioned before confuse me, I'll make myself think that he is a great person, I mean, if he actually is a bad person, I guess it would be revealed sooner or later. With that being said, I think heel turn isn't that unlikely...but not yet, IF it happens, it will most likely happen when he hits his 40s or so. Quote
Judders Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I am by no means a John Cena fan, but the criticism he gets is unfair. 3.He doesn't put talent over.(AFTER TEN F*CKING YEARS AND 11 WWE CHAMPIONSHIP REIGNS) He lost clean at SummerSlam to Daniel Bryan. Pinned 1-2-3 after a move Bryan has never finished anyone with before then. He's lost 3 WrestleMania main events in the last 10 years. More than Austin, Rock, Triple H or Hogan ever did. I've seen him have match of the year candidates with CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Shawn Michaels and Triple H in the past. I'm sure that people will say "yeah but the guys in the ring made him better." Fair point, but it's not down to one man to have a contest worthy of Match of the Year. Quote

And to be honest, I doubt Cena would have lost to Bryan if he havn't had to take some time off. As for the Match of the year thing, just read righteous comment or number 2 in my post. Quote

Judders Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Sorry if I focused on point #3 after you used the expletive. To say however he only put Miz over because of the interference, you could also make the point he could have won by DQ and not won the title. He could have won and the outcome would have been the same, he however took the pinfall. It was also the point I disagreed with that you posted, and then asked if we agreed or disagreed with you. I read your post fine. Quote

I read your post fine. I don't think the outcome would have been the same, at the end of the day, The Rock screwed Cena. And it's fine that you tell me whether you agree or disagree, I only respondet to your post mentioning my own point of view. The thing I mentioned: "Please read my first post closely first" was esspecially directed to what you said about his 3 WM losses and about his match of the year thou. Quote
Bob_Van_Dam Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 According to the Matt Striker shoot preview... John Cena is a depressed person backstage. Everybody asks him for stuff a lot. One day.. John Cena decided to just sit and eat by himself in catering and Matt Striker asked how he was doing. Cena then told Striker "Nobody ever asks me that, they always asked how they could get over or what he could do for them". I actually feel bad for Cena at times for being the face of the company and being told to do the same old shit. Good in the ring.... Character wise... he's just stale. At least he got rid of the jean shorts though. Quote

But that makes my ask myself even more why he constantly tries too keep this face of the company thing up...hopefully he let's D-Bry be the face when he returns. Mr Awesome™ Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Wow you got some really good points here Brotch, I agree with almost everything you said. Cena might be one of the nicest guy in the WWE AND IN REAL LIFE but he's stale and boring as fuck. But what Bob_Van_Dam said about Cena(which I think is true) actually made me change the way I think of Cena a little bit. Honestly, I'm not really sure if Cena wants the do the same fucking gimmick for the the past ten years or if the WWE is just telling him to do so....... Quote
