Beardy Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 It's going to be hit or miss, that's for sure. I'm sure he'll do fine as Batman. Quote
last ride 123 Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 Yes. That guy hit the nail on the head. What an awful decision. I cant wait to hear what Affleck has to say. Quote
Loves2Spoon Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 To be honest im not too crazy about it. Im not crazy when many actors play the roles of a hero more then once. As we all know Ben has played Dare Devil. But we also gotta remember that Ryan Renolds was Deadpool and Green Lantern. It ruins the effect when you look at the hero. I always go... Hey that guy who plays Captain America keeps me thinking about the human torch. I don't like this type deal to be honest. But literally on topic, I don't like the idea, but I gotta give it a chance. ALL STAR Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 He wouldn't of been my first choice but for people to be losing their shit over this and signing petitions is obsured.Take into account he was rumoured to be directing a Justice League movie some time ago. DC may have in lined up to direct that, given he only directs films he stars. Wait till we actually see him in the suit/ trailer. People need to calm down and realise they have signed Bryan Cranston to play Lex Luthor! Quote

Not going that far to cost him his job, I just ranted off like that dude in vid thou, and I agree I don't like the multiple use of same guy playing more then one hero/villain Edited August 26, 2013 by Spyder78 Quote

Spyder78 Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Funny you posted the 89' Batman because when Keaton was cast he was bombarded(not as much as Affleck due to social media now), but Keaton got himself heat being cast as Batman too and he did a decent job, even thou my fav actor of all time stole the show as The Joker Quote

He excels in playing quirky type roles, action roles where he is required to be a bad guy(See MallRats & Gigli) those roles he was pathetic in he is not a baddie type guy you would fear, we all know how Daredevil turned out thou lol. I just can't see him in roles where he has to be tough/menacing Quote

Also he might be good, since he might study how Batman has been played previously and do it in his own twist. Quote
Professor of Wrestling Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Ok, I'm going to say it and I don't care who doesn't like it. Christian Bale was the most awful, most pathetic and most over-rated Batman of all-time. He's even worse than Val Kilmer, and that's horrible! At least Val Kilmer was himself. Bale's deep voice killed the DK batman. And I'm not being prejudice here, but wtf is with these producers casting Brits/Aussies as superheroes? Batman and Superman above all are uniquely American. Again, not being prejudice, but that's how those characters were written and that's what made them popular. Even off-camera Christopher Reeve (the one and 'only' Superman) was hailed as an American pop culture icon, as is Adam West. Then you have Bale ranting in his cockney accent off-camera (often times appearing inebriated) and no one could understand him, hence why he got so little PR here in the states. The only exception to this is Heath Ledger as The Joker. I adored his take on the character, even though I place him second behind Jack Nicholson (sorry, I like my Jokers to be goofy). Anyways, I'll end that part of it before I start ranting haha. My Batman order is as follows: Michael Keaton Adam West The dude that voiced Batman on the Arkham games (stfu, it counts!) ----------------- Then you have Kilmer, Clooney and Bale. These three can go in any order of suckage. Hopefully I'll be able to put Ben at #3. Yeah, the guy's made some God-awful movies in his career, but he's also done some great things. Co-wrote "Good Will Hunting", was a staple in the early Kevin Smith movies, Argo rocked and he fucked J-Lo, which is pretty damn cool. Quote

But it's your opinion and I respect that FYI the worst batman of all is George Clooney. I mean come on, you could see the guy's nipples on his batman suit and he's very baaad Quote

last ride 123 Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 BEN AFFLECK AS BATMAN= SHIT I will laugh in your face if he turns out to be amazing. And youll have thousands laughing in yours when he bombs. They better stack the rest of the cast. Brian Cranston is a good start..but they need someone else big..they need to make Affleck not Affleck for him playing Bruce Wayne/Batman to work. Loooking at Affleck on Screen youre not going to see Bruce Wayne, youl see Ben Affleck. They shouldve went w an unknown actor. When u see Chris Hemsley you think Thor. Thats what Batman needs. When I think Batman I think Christian Bale(just my opinion) the guy nailed the role. The deep voice thing was strange, ill give u that. But everything else was spot on. Ben Affleck as Batman = SHIT. Well who knows you know if you give him a chance he might be great. Like how hated Heath Ledger was, or Keaton. Everyone thinks the next incarnation of a character will be shit because they like the previous actor who played him. Everyone plays a character differrently to one another, Heath Ledger played a more pyscho Joker, while Nicholson played a more funnier version. Everyone puts their on twist on it, if you don't like it don't go and watch it simple as. Same with anything else you don't like don't buy it. Also try reading I said IF he turns out good, not that he will. Edited August 27, 2013 by HarlotEffect93 Quote
last ride 123 Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 Im going to see it. I dont like it, but like u said Affleck deserves a chance. I still think he needs to not be himself in order for it to work. He needs to become Bruce Wayne/Batman like Heath Ledger bacame the joker...otherwise..imo it is going to suck. Quote

Professor of Wrestling Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 My only argument is that he fucked J-Lo. I figured that would give him enough cred to play "The Bat". Quote
BrotchMrToast Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 You can't compare Heath Ledger to Ben Affleck. Before Batman nobody really knew about Heath, except for this one series where he played a gay cop or something. Ben Affleck thou is already pretty famous in the filming business, and everybody knows he's not a good actor. This is not a Heath Ledger situation, this is a Georg Clooney situation. Remember when they announced him as Batman? Everybody reacted similiar to now, and at the end of the day the Movie was bad as hell. Quote

Heath Ledger was pretty well known, I had been following him for years before TDK. Ben Affleck is a far cry from being a bad actor. The Town and Argo prove this. Fantastic films. Quote

Well, YOU followed Ledger, but he was not well known before TDK, that's a fact. George Clooney/Ben Affleck thou are both very famous actors, even if you don't regularly watch movies you probably still know both of them, that's why I compare those situations.Other than that, Heath is so much of a better actor than Ben, that it's almost unbelievable. Also, The Town and Agro ARE Fantastic Films, but not because of Ben, he played a "good" role in those movies...that's it, he was "good", nothing more, he can be a good actor when he is involved in a good movie, but this new movie is being directed by Zack F*cking Snyder. And remember how bad Affleck was in bad movies such as Phantoms and Daredevil? Maybe I'm wrong thou, but until this new Movie is out I will always be mad at this decision.
