Professor of Wrestling Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 each to their own i guess. i liked the batman movies of the 80s etc at the time, but they progressively got worse to a point where nobody was interested in superhero movies anymore. x-men was noted as a big gamble, and in turn thats why they decided to go with thlose god-awful black leather suits, to make them all seem more normal. nobody wanted a repeat of the george clooney nipple suited batman, nor did they want the likes of the cheesy versions of bane and freeze that we got. that follows nicely into the joker debate. i feel the joker has ALWAYS been cast well to fit into the surroundings set for him, from the camp adam west batman shows right through to the dark knight & the games etc. if you dig hard enough you'll find various different jokers in various different batman comics where, even just by looking at the drawings alone, you can judge the type of joker being portrayed, some times he's a bit twisted and looking for fun, some times he's the maniacal psychopath. im not saying its wrong to have a favorite joker, im just saying the joker has always been great for the purpose he was intended.... juch the same as jim carreys joker vs the joker in the Arkham games. completely different, but both brilliant. Jim Carrey played The Riddler. And Steven Tyler for next Joker. Has to happen! lol Quote
Aero Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 haha i ment riddler i swear, jim carreys riddler vs Arkham games riddler... fail** Quote
Nemo Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Heroes: Marvel. I would stack the X-Men roster alone against the entire Justice League, nevermind the Avengers (even though some X-Men were Avengers too). If you really need an objective comparison, look how many Marvel films there are vs DC. Even the Nova Corps, who I thought were sorta obscure, are getting a film. Fantastic 4, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, X-Men. What's the DC lineup looking like? Batman? Superman? LOL Green Lantern. The Justice League film, if one is made, will feature all of their "prominent" heroes who aren't marketable enough to have their own films. And it will suck because there's not enough time for character development. The prominent characters for the Avengers all had their own films before its release and they were all pretty fucking good. Villains: Marvel. Green Lantern's greatest foe is the color yellow. Snore. Any villains outside of Batman's rogue gallery is either shitty, Solomon Grundy or Lex Luthor. For the most part, I have a major hardon for the symbiotes so I would give this to Marvel just for Venom and Carnage. Movies: A tie, I guess. Marvel for live action, DC for animated. Michael Keaton was the best movie Batman and the Burton films beat the everloving shit out of the Nolan trilogy. Nolan's films had nothing to offer except for the Joker. One character who appeared in one movie in a trilogy. Marvel isn't infallible with their live action films, but there's so many of them to choose from and the majority are either decent or fucking awesome. V for Vendetta is my favorite DC live-action film, but it was based on a one-off graphic novel they published, so it doesn't even count. DC does make some awesome animated films though. Batman: Under the Red Hood is superb and outshines anything Marvel has or probably will ever do. TV Shows/Animated Series: DC. Though I love me some Spider-Man and X-Men, Batman TAS was the best the 90's had to offer. I don't recall much after that except JLA, which is also pretty damn good. DC is consistently better with their shows. Comic Books. Marvel. For the most part, I only follow Spider-Man and Batman and whatever crossovers they're in and a lot of both are hit or miss. The last major crossovers from Marvel and DC that I remember are Civil War and Blackest Night and Civil War was way better. Games: Ultimately, it depends on the developer. However, if you voted for DC here, you're probably in your early teens and your first console was the 360. Before the Arkham games and Injustice, there was a wave of horrible Batman games and *shudder* Superman 64. Again, Marvel has way more to offer here. They've released some great games for every console (including arcade, remember those?) since the SNES and probably before then, I don't really remember. Marvel vs Capcom is also the greatest 2D fighting game franchise. Ever. Overall: DC is the Shawn Michaels to Marvel's Hulk Hogan. The quality might be on par or better, but they are nowhere near as popular, nor as marketable. Marvel wins. Quote
Mr Awesome™ Posted July 26, 2013 Author Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) Why DC for heroes? Just curious. I love batman, the flash, green arrow, green lantern, and a lot more but it's really close I guess but I love DC heroes just a little bit more than marvel heroes kinda like 52% to 48% Edited July 26, 2013 by G.O.A.T™ Quote
RoKaDiTz Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Marvel all the way. Except comics and video games. Quote
